Re: Thread size of oil pressure sender?/B172 (1986)
Hi, I have today removed the "sender" for the dashboard warning light and my screw gauge tells me the thread size is M18x1.5 (i.e.isometric).As there does not appear to be as much room on the B172 Renault engine as on the Volvo engines for the obviously larger oil gauge sender, I may have to use a "...

Re: Removing front wings. How to ?
Hello,
Thanks for your very quick response.Very helpful information.
Better get my wobble bar out and get down to work!
Google Translate gave up on your last line.
Fortunately I was dragged up in the "Potteries" so it made good sense.
Thanks again .
John.

Removing front wings.How to ?
Hi, 1986 340 GL 1.7. I cannot find a "How to" topic on removing the front wings to rustproof.Perhaps there isn't one :( Please can someone who has done the job answer the following questions for me? (a) Are they just bolted on or am I likely to find spot welds ? (b) Are there any areas that are diff...

Re: Thread size of oil pressure sender?/B172 (1986)
Hi Again, 360beast Thank you for all the information you have provided. It never ceases to amaze me how much time & effort members are willing to put in to help others. By coincidence I did buy my voltmeter & oil pressure gauges from Demon Tweeks,(Despite being shown as "in stock" it took them nearl...

Re: Cassette Holder Unit Removal/How?
Thank you "classicswede" very helpful. I have now been able to remove the unit without damage. As shown in the picture there are two small but very sharp tangs; one on each side half way down, It needs a slim screwdriver to reach in and release the "tangs" grip by pressing inwards on the very outer l...

Adapter for oil pressure gauge/ B 172 engine.
I require the above part (Pt.number 3417001-9) NLA. to fit a VDO oil gauge sender unit to my B172 engine.
I believe it is an angled adapter in order to clear the oil filter.
Thank you if anyone is able to help.
de Dion.

Re: Thread size of oil pressure sender?/B172 (1986)
Hi, Good of you to go to the trouble to obtain further information (360beast). I wondered what sort of adapter would be needed as the present oil warning light unit is very close to the oil filter. Our local Volvo agent informs me that part number 3417001-9 is no longer available. I will try a Renau...

Re: Thread size of oil pressure sender?/B172 (1986)
Hi, Thank you both. I see that the Volvo (1988 accessories price list) shows "adaptor" for oil pressure gauge B17 models Part number 3417001-9. So I will phone our local Volvo agent and see if I can assertain any further information.Failing this it looks like I will have to remove the present "warni...

Thread size of oil pressure sender?/B172 (1986)
Hi, Can anyone advise me as to the thread size of the oil pressure sender on the (1986.) B172 engine. I need to order a VDO pressure sender unit to enable me to install the gauge and would prefer not to have to use a thread converter.(Adds to risk of oil leaks; particularly as VDO advise NOT to use ...

Cassette Holder Unit Removal/How?
Hi, 1986 340 GL. I fitted a cassette holder unit many years ago and as I remember, it was just a case of pushing it in to locate it. I now need to remove it to replace it with the twin instrument panel, but it refuses to budge by pulling & levering. Please can someone tell me if I am missing somethin...

Re: Factory rust protection on early cars
1986 340. Rustproofing must have been carried out by a chap on a bicycle, and possibly a racing bike at that! When my car was under two years old I checked all box sections with a light probe through the rustproofing access holes and only got lucky on five occasions! Yes FIVE out of some 50 + rustpro...
