Slightly out of my price range, but would do nicely! Think I'll keep it simple with a single carb for now! But thanks for the suggestion :-) !

does anyone know of a good carburettor which i could use if i attempted a conversion, and what kind of power increase i could expect to get? i was thinking maybe a vw golf 1.8 weber carb if i can get it jetted for a reasonable price?

max power!

Does anyone have any idea how much power a standard propshaft & rear axle of a 1.7gle 340 can sensibly handle? I know the car has 80bhp as standard...

Do you know how difficult it is to find a decent original carb, and how much would be a reasonable price to pay?
Do you also know if there is any reason why fitting a similar carb with a DIY adapter plate would cause problems?

Hi Guys, Just joined as a new member, hoping to get my 340 back on the road! I have experienced exactly the same problems as seagull2200 with my F reg 340 1.7 gle, where at a certain range of revs the engine splutters and sometimes dies making the car almost completely undrivable.
