Cheers guys, sounds likely its one of the bearings, i didn't think the little idler one on the shaft was upto much when i changed the clutch, but didn't have time to get a new one....

Def sounds like a bearing or metal rubbing somewhere (and getting worse quite rapidly). I replaced the thrust bearing when I did the clutch - is there another one I missed??? :?

Not sure its the belts cos it only does it when you let off the throttle whilst going along, but its doing it all the time hot or cold. Seems to be worse cold. Is that belt type symptoms??

Possible wildlife in CVT somewhere

Hi guys, Have a problem with the CVT - when i let off the throttle its chirps like a grasshopper has got stuck in it somewhere. Its very annoying. Its definitely transmission as it squeaks when stationery when the car is in gear/foot on brake/very light thottle, i.e about to engage. Really noisy on ...

Agreed - 1 or 2 pumps, 3 at most, if you do it too much you'll know all about it cos you'll flood it and it won't start. Probably cause more bore wear spinning it over on the starter without a proper oil flow, as well as stressing the battery and starter (and hence charging circuit) unnecessarily. Y...

Funny you should post this Pete, my mainbeams quit working last week and i've been meaning to look at it. How should the action of the stalk feel? Should it click into place or is it supposed to be one touch on/one touch off? Am i right in assuming that there is no 'flashing' function too?? I'm not ...

I used to leave our 1.4 on the drive all week before the missus could use it and it always started fine, but i found if you didn't give it 2 or 3 full pumps on the throttle first it would turn over for a while and not start so well. Try stamping on the pedal a couple of times and see if that helps...

I think my fuel economy is fairly dire, only seems to do about 120 miles on £20 of V-power, which is currently 90.9 p per litre. Maths anyone?? I think this is roughly 24mpg. Car runs and cold starts really well though, decent petrol really makes a difference. Bear in mind though that ours is a CVT ...

The one on my car looked almost exactly like a pipe joining piece. It was only when I replaced the perished pipe with new and the car wouldn't run, did the penny drop. Peaked in the end and and it was blocked save for a tiny pin hole in the middle. Chopped new pipe and inserted, car ran sweet again....

Be interested of any of you guys have a plan for renewing valve stem oil seals without having to have the head off. I had an inkling you could possibly manage this with a couple of homemade tools to release the springs from the collets, remove the collets and use a bit of fishing line to stop the va...

I guess you could do it in situ if you bought the piston to the top of the cylinder and took off both manifolds - that would safely allow you to blow out any swarf with an airline, assuming you left one valve open (or can or air cleaner from maplins if you haven't got a compressor). The added benefi...
