I don't know for sure, but I would have thought so.
However, sorry to say but you have been pipped at the post - the cable has a new home already!
And a slightly ironic thing is that you appear to be just a couple of miles away from me.
But heyho.
Sorry.

340 1.4 throttle cable - new and unused for sale
I've been having a tidy-up, as you do now and again, and have found a new unused throttle cable for a 1.4 340. I remember that I got it back when I owned a Mk2 Variomatic 340, but never used or needed it. Anyone interested? Please let me know. Thanks. http://s305.photobucket.com/albums/nn214/dafcars...

Re: rare car (me thinks)
I was also thinking that the little yellow car is a Mk1 Fiesta.
Also, bit of a long shot, but could one of the hidden cars behind (where you just see the roofs) be a BMW 1602 (or whatever it was) "hatch/touring" from the mid 70s?

Re: rare car (me thinks)
The DAF in that picture is a Volvo 66. So in other words, a DAF 66 with big bumpers and different transmission selector lever.
And the Volvo 262C is indeed a rare beast. Was never what you could call a big seller, even when new.

Re: Retro Rides website
There have been a few intermittent loading delays to the Proboards service in recent days. It's affected most forums hosted by them, not just RR. Proboards support are aware etc. It usually sorts itself out quit quickly.

Re: cant find the source of my Vacum leak
Interesting. My 340 Variomatic is playing up in a similar way. It starts OK, even after a few days, engine sounds sweet on tickover in neutral and even when revving it up - again in neutral, not park! But, once in drive and trying to drive anywhere, it stutters and coughs and has little pulling powe...

Re: Need desperate help with insurance
Have you tried classic car insurance such as Footman James? (footmanjames.co.uk) 340s are recognised as "classics". Some policies have limited mileages though but it's worth a go. My policy costs about £150 pa fully comp and that includes the DAF too. Mind you, I'm getting on a bit, I guess! Another...

My Mk2 340 Variomatic needs a new owner
The time has come to find a new home for my (even though I say so myself) very nice 340 variomatic. Here are the main details, followed by a "but"... 1985 B-reg Mk2 DL, 3-door, just over 50,000 miles, two owners plus ex dealer demo, fantastic brilliant spotless red paintwork, rust free above and und...

Re: 'H' reg. CVT
I used to own that car!! (I got it its special registration number)
I sold it to Mac - I didn't know that was you!
It was a super car - missed it for a long time.
Glad to see it is still around even if it is for sale.
Hope someone gets/saves it...

Re: Throttle stuck open
Thanks Pettaw. Unfortunately, I have a strange effect on things when I try and repair them - I usually make them worse. Or, when I take something apart, i can never get it back together again without having a few bits left over. Anyway, i had the car recovered to an independent Volvo specialist, who...

Thanks all for your thoughts and comments.
This is turning into a bit of an international rescue!
I was a bit surprised at Danny's question, especially as he appeared to be advertising RHD cables, but hey ho.
We'll see how things progress.
Thanks again.

Throttle cable wanted for 340 Variomatic
Urgently needed. Throttle cable for 1985 Mk2 340 1.4 Variomatic. My car is "resting" at a specialist independent Volvo garage who try as they might, cannot find a new or even used throttle cable anywhere. They think they have found a company to make one, but that will take some time and the old cabl...

Re: Throttle stuck open
I went down to have a look at the car again today and took my camera phone with me, and this is what I think the problem is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nLdv7DDa5U I think the problem is definitely at the bulkhead end of the cable. Oh yes, this is what it looks like when it's out and running pro...

Re: Throttle stuck open
Thanks for the comments. I had a bit of time today to have a closer look. It appears to be the spring arrangement on the bulkhead. It is no longer "compressed" and the thing that goes on the end of the cable doesn't seem to be firm. I estalished this because pushing it in by hand slowed the engine d...
