I've got a mobile mechanic friend-of-a-friend coming round to have a look on Sunday. He normally welds bin trucks, so should be strong enough!! Will update when I have information from him.

Thanks for the offer, pettaw. I'm going to see if I can organise anything sooner, because their last day in the house is the 9th, so I'd rather get the caravan out of their way & off their list before then, but I'll come back to you.
