I will not be making any jokes suggesting that shes more than used to handling one inch.

Ahem.
I shall get me coat.

Ok, so Rupert and Chris gave me a huge nudge to get my arse in gear and sort this out...so I kinda did. Here's the plan...

Weekend of 11th / 12th September - first annual V3M / VOC 300-series event: "The National". Right at the moment this date is provisional, but I'm due to book it *tomorrow* (13th July).

11th: Meet at a pub somewhere in Derbyshire. Go for a drive on a defined route (you can take diversions, but we have check-points, etc...better than the usual chaotic "convoys" we sometimes try to pull off) around the peak district. Go as fast or as slowly as you like. Alternatively, stay in pub and talk about interior trim revisions. Details of venue, route, etc, TBC. This is a V3M-only event for this year. VOC involvement in this is likely to involve more beards and requirements for marshals and insurance and stuff...plus I don't know how well it will work, so you're the guinea pigs!

That night, hit up an eatery, talk crap for hours on end, and then retire to either a suitable hotel or camping facility, depending on your budget/preference.

12th: The main event - a line-up / display / (maybe concours, if anyone is interested) / stand at Crich Tramway Museum in Derbyshire. Subsidised entry for VOC members (TBC) . You get to have a poke around the museum (which is a great day out in itself), plus we'll be doing various things with 300s.

So...who's down for this? It's a bit of an experiment, with a view to making 2011 a much bigger deal!

cheers

That would be awesome, Adam. :)

While I'm looking forward to seeing everything, I'd quite like to compile a list of "pretty" cars for the Sunday. Last time I went to a car day there they had a line-up near the tramway itself of concours-standard stuff (on more prominent view), then the rest of the 'normal' cars a little further up the hill towards the little bandstand they have. Are any of the cars attending so far of vaguely show standard? I'm thinking of things like Adam's grey 340, and Steve's 360 GLS. I know the 'real' concours cars will probably hear about this via the VOC rather than here...we're rather more action / daily driver oriented.

cheers

I think you might be missing the point. In my eyes the 300 scene isn't about super duper polished cars, it's about what they are used for. Richard Dodd's daily is what I mean, it's shiney but it's used. Adam's car has a huge amount of talent in it etc.

I'd suggest 'interesting' cars, for whatever reason rather than just pretty cars that have no story behind them

We don't drive MGB's, why pretend we polish our cars instead of driving them?
