Roof lining

Post by lennyzero » 13 Feb 2005 04:41 pm

I've got a 340 :340: but some little 5h1t decided that they wanted the radio aerial.

How do i get the roof lining out enough to replace the aerial?

Thanks in advance

you dont need to. iirc, just imagine all the ariel is there and turn it anticlockwise, as if it were just screwed straight into the roof.. it should just unscrew then.

Hi

Removing the roof lining is easy when you know how.

I had to do this to replace my aerial when the mount broke on my :340: .

You will need to remove the sun visors with a Philips head, and the plate that they attach to. You will also need to remove the covers from the windscreen pillars, again these are Philips head. When you have removed all of these you should easily be able to see a long silver metal rod, which is attached to the roof mount. You should be able to pull this forward over the retaining mounts of the roof with your fingers, this will give you access to the aerial mounting area and you can replace the aerial. The refitting is in the opposite order. If you need to replace the cabling make sure you know the routing that it is going through, as there is limited access for you hands to get behind the consul.

I don't know it you can remove the aerial base without taking the lining out, also if you have a friendly breakers yard near buy try to do it on one of there cars first, I did, much better to wreck a wreck than yours on the thirst attempt

Hope this makes sense.

They only wanted the aerial?! Crikey, only in Bradford :)

Good luck with fixing it - ought to be a fairly easy one!

cheers

Aye, just the aerial! Although my neighbour had some of his window glass taken as little bits....

Great help from you all, yes the mount is broke so the whole thing is being changed.

Thanks all!
