it's a Dutch car, remember ;-)

Art nr = part number

Motor uitv = engine type

Mapping zie tekening nr? = Mapping see drawing number (these are the interesting number, I want those drawings as well!!)

Lev codering? = the first half of the part number/ code

the last column? = the important bit of the part number/ code

cheers mate! :)

so what did you change on your car in the end? did you need to change the ignition parts?

coz you were having trouble with spares it got me thinking about getting some stuff for my car. Ive listed all the part numbers i got so far in a psr called 340 1.4 ignition types... it looks like ive been chatting to myself LOL in that post as ive just listed all the parts!!

Im also very wanting to learn how to do a carb rebuild. I dont want to mess it up though! im going to get the haynes weber and solex manual eventually.

ive got a friend who owns a garage who has offered to do the rebuild with me...... i'll try to get some pics

the only concern is though... where to get the replacement gaskets......

volvo do some of them.....

I guess if you use the right sort of paper you could make your own...

I know the one that goes between the air filter and the carb top isnt essential (ive had a few cars run fine without it although this is how they were bought... i would then fit a gasket later. I think this gasket is just a seal so normal card can be used........

great to hear your car is back running!

Hi, I managed to find Lucas parts from my local motor factor - distributor cap, rotor, points and condenser (I think I posted the part numbers earlier in the post). I've used the leads that they gave me to the plugs and will try to buy a single lead with two male connectors to go to the coil - should be able to get one from the motor factor, the Halfords ones are very poor.

The problem with the carb is that it's impossible to set the mixture and idle screws correctly. The mixture one is way out and the idle is difficult (impossible) to get smooth. If you get it as good as possible it's ok, but there is a flat spot in the transition stage between idling and open, which isn't very useful for the automatic transmission. The throttle mechanism has also got a bit sticky with age and sometimes doesn't go back to idle properly after the accelerator has been used.

I'll probably try to get hold of a spare carb to play with, so it won't matter so much if I bugger it up!

As far as gaskets go, I had to make one for my 1977 Fiat X1/9 for the thermostat. I used thick card from the back of an A4 pad and rubbed vegetable oil into it to stop it being absorbent - seemed to do the trick.

Cheers, Ed
