As with any gearbox , the weight is a governing factor in what torque a gearbox can handle .
About 450hp is bandied about by the v8 boys in Gt40s with a UN1 .
it all depends how u treat them , an open diff would probably save the input shaft from breaking .
F1 cars , mid engine cars et al have 60/40 rearwards bias for better traction , and better braking while turn in.
50/50 is not the be all and end all of the handling situation even tho the marketing hype is obviously working .
if you drop the bellhousing off the UN1 , make a covering plate which supports a bearing for the input shaft , your halfway there , it just needs engineering for a decent prop like the one off a 960 IRS .
the other option is of course IRS 960 diff , and front gearbox , it even has mounts that could easily be welded to the rear subframe .
