I'm not too sure about the mounting though... Seems a bit flimsy on that one bolt...
Is it me, or does this brace look as if it's bolted to the strut insert itselfand not the strut tower as it's supposed to be?

agreed with rupert , that strut brace would do nothing interms of strength , it needs to be mounted to the body .

regarding the polybushes , you only need to make them out of black polyurethane to get them to look std .

id be a little concerned at the back wishbone bush being poly , its supposed to flex quite a lot , it should really be rose jointed .

Back wishbone is fine with poly. A rose joint set up would be difficult to do, you would need to compleatly remake the arm and mounting bracket!!! Also you with suffer a lot of vibration from the rose joint, one for track cars only really.

Aren't rose joints stiffer (NO give) than even the stiffest polys?

the back wishbone joint is supposed to swivel on the rubber bush, i question the wisdom of a poly bush in this postiion since it will be harder than the rubber one, and limit movement unless the poly bush , is specified soft , a rose joint will accomodate the movement quite easily , with no give , ensuring top quality handling at the expense of ride quality

Ah, I see what you mean Dave....it has to swivle on two planes, right? Polybush would be fine for 'rotation', but not really suitable for 'twisting'...if that makes sense?

cheers

I have had poly bushes on my rear wishbone for over 12months now is no problems, The arm moves as it should. I do agree if you used nylon hardness 95shore The wishbone would not move as it should. The pre 1968 amazon rear axle uses a similare bush set up on the rear axle and these are very comomly replaced with poly.
A rose joint gives the most positive location but transmits a lot of noise and vibration. Poly is a comprimise between the comfort of rubber and the location of a rose joint.
I hope this clears things up.

I can formulate poly to any hardness between 60-95shore A
Rubber is 60 shore A and nylon is 95 shore A.
I would forulate these to 80 shore A.

can you send them to australia and how much will it be
classicswede wrote:After some of the discussion over the group buy the the torque rod bushes I thought I had best show everyone what I have already had made. I went out and changed the link rod bushes for orange one so they would show up better.

While I was changing them I noticed the body mount bushes looked close in size to a bush I am already making. I quickly gave it a go and it fits spot on. One less bush to develop :D

If anyone wants some of these please let me know the link rod bushes are £15 a set and the arb to body bushes are £10 pair.
