Now that is a performance upgrade! You can't really tell from that pic, but a Holset HX40 is from a truck...

cheers

How would a garrett T4 do on a B200ET? If I get that engine I could buy a T4 off a guy I know. It just seems a bit big:)..Although ford did use it on that RS500 car which has a 2l as well.....

That was the big worry....but it proved to be unfounded.

It's all about gas velocity. You need to get a certain amount of exhaust gas moving to spool any turbo. Whether you achieve that through big displacement and 'lazy' delivery, or through a 2.0 cammed and flowed to give power at 8000rpm. There are several guys using HX40s on B230s, so its possible. I think an 8v B200 might be a bit slow to spool such a big turbo, but the 16v head would probably shift enough air to get it moving.

Well it was just a wild brainfart anyway. The amount of power it would make on boost would kill an unmodified engine for sure. Especially at the high rpm's it would take to spool if it has a true T4 turbine housing. I'm told T3 turbine with T4 blower housing would probably be best (T3/4).

Not at all - the B2x0 have a strong bottom end, and the Bxx OHC engines are even stronger. I know of people running 25psi of boost on stock B230 bottom ends.

Having said that, you'd need a hot cam or 16v to run a T4, and even then it'd only spool quite late. I'd just use a stock T3 from a B230ET or B23ET for a road/track car - you only really need to go bigger for serious power (250bhp+)

cheers
