HELP me please - Starting

Post by Besser » 05 Jul 2007 10:00 pm

Hey,

found this website think you might be able to help.

i've been having problems with my volvo 340, D Reg. The problem i've been having is starting it. Sometimes i'll only have left it for 4 days and it wont start! its so frustrating. I've been on holiday for a week, got home tried to start my volvo but no luck. Starter motor makes a noise like its trying o start but nothing happens.

I've have bought a new battery, but this hasnt helped.

My drive is slightly on a hill, could this have anything to do with it? i Just need some help. any advice would be welcome.

Thank you in advance

Besser

I bet its the fuel hoses from the tank to the fuel pump. All the way from the back to the front. Do a search for them...plenty threads on here about them, where they are and how to change them.

I find that the longer I leave my car standing, the more turning over it needs before it fires, are you going for a full 10 seconds before giving up?

So it starts fine unless you leave it sitting for a while, and the new battery didn't solve the problem? check to make sure your charging system is working.

I would be inclined to aggree with andy on this one about the fuel. One way to confirm this would be to leave standing for a while. Remove the air box. Pull the throttle and you should see fuel squirt from the acel jet. Do this and few times and it should work every time not just the first.

On normal starting with dd carbs I always press the throttle a few times to enrichen for starting.
