Newbie Needing Coversion Advice........

Post by BeArDy » 06 Jul 2007 09:47 pm

Hi All
I am new to the site so will start off with saying Hi :D

Right what i need advice on is.
I got this months PPC and read alittle about the 340's with the R19 16v engine in.
Which i think is a really cool and really fun idea. SO i want one

I do alot of conversion so want to research as much as i can about this before i start, more info the easy it will be.
I have an engine. As i said i do alot of conversion and fab work, I currently have Redline Magazines Clio 16v in my workshop (Pastys car if anyone reads it) which i am fitting a Vauxhall 2.5 V6 engine into the clio.
So we have a spare engine out of the clio, we really fancy a budjet drifter :D

Like i have said done loads of conversion, i am not scared of this kind of thing, I own :-
Corsa 3.0 V6 6 speed with NOS (360bhp)
Twin Engine Corsa with 2 x 2lt 16v Turbos (est 900+bhp)

So is there any info on here, or can somone point me in the right direction?
Will any 340 do?
Can you get 3dr 340's?
Any parts i need to buy?
Anything i need to look out for?
Can you just weld the diff up?

Any advice welcome.

You are best off starting with a 1.7 car for this conversion.
The engine does basicaly just bolt in. You need to fit the sump etc off the 340. The issue is with the inlet manifold but can be overcome by removing the heater box. Wiring I'm sure you will be used to and not need ask about.

Yes you can get 3 door cars but if its only for a bit of fun just go for an ok 5 door as they are dead easy to find and stripped there is little weight difference.

You can just weld the diff up for drifting no problems there. For drifting you will need lowering springs and lowering blocks as a minimum.

There are a couple of threads on this subject try a search.
