^^ i changed 1 fuse that i blew up when changing interiuer lights to leds

mine also was in open barn for a few years , cleaning is very good -every thing you clean gives you 1 hp ;) :P ,

the leads are high performance ones so maybe it makes up for it. 8mm.
the spark plugs are performance ones too, i have to admit there was a differnce in livlynes of car.

Cleaned the carb and the throat (havent taken it apart yet as it works ;))

ive put a fuel addive in to clean the valves up a bit etc

i will probally change the engine to a 1.8i 8v or 2.0i 8v soon mainly for fuel econemy+ power.

Main points: wash+keepclean keep the servicing good drive nicely and it will last for ever. .....maybe

Cheers

well....havent updated in a while as ive been very busy.

BAD NEWS!! the prop fell off or out or what ever today :(

it fell from the back doing 75mph ....stoped the car imidatly to stop further damaged diped the clutch..

looked under the car looked ok no damage just fallen off

of couse i had no tools

called insurance ...waited an hour and a half in the frezing cold, car by the side of a small road and french people doing suicide over taking :?

the guy said whats wrong with it?

its the transmission

ok

(he looked under the car)
started the engine with lots of horible noise
and tryed to drive it on to the pick up thing......(what a prat) :?: :!:

then he says...ahh i see the problem its the tranmissin....(OMG WHAT DID I SAY!)

any way he wouldent take us home so he called his boss and said if we wanted to take the car home we must pay 20.33 euros

no problem this is all we had to pay which is good and cheap in my opp

when it was home i jacked the car up looked and there was a shiney ring round the prop where it had been in contact with somthing.

put the prop back on to the front first then the back as far as it goes

EDITE they only charged becouse it didnt go to there garage.

You've done it correctly already, pretty much it should be hammered almost all the way back against the gearbox end. Not quite all the way, but very much most of it.

Yeah, could well be, maybe worth taking off the prop and loosening off the bolts and trying to pull the engine further back. Which end did it slide off?

Oh my, i see you didn't have much fun...
Try to reconnect bolts again as pettaw said.
I don't think it has to do much with your car conversation, neither with new clutch. Could be that bolts had worn out.

And remember.....never go without tool box ( with tools in it!!! )

C dont know...bump on road? loose clamps etc

all i know is i dont want it to happen again,
COZ IT SCARED THE SHIT OUT OF ME!! :(

Hugh is the expert at refitting propshafts by the roadside in foreign countries! Personally, I can't comment much on the propshaft side of things, as I'm used to the 360 torque tube. The only one I've had any contact with is on my Vario, which seemed a bit of a PITA to refit, until we cracked out some bits of MDF cut to fit and a FBH!

The improtant thing to do is tighten the bolts with a allen key socket and ratchet not with a std alen key.

the engine should slide on its engine mounts right? I would say take the propshaft off completely and then loosen off the exhaust if necessary.

Then loosen off the engine mounts a tad so that the engine can slide and see if you can rock the engine back slightly.

Once you've done that then refit the prop. Yes the prop should be done up with an allen socket and a torque wrench. From memory its 37Nm. You seem to have had it in the correct place, it should be knocked forward and then slid back onto the gearbox almost as far as it will go.
