Yup, that's what I'd do....purely so it doesn't shake the carb to bits!

cheers

If i recall an earlier discussion correctly, a K&N would be a very bad idea, it'd just be asking for icing trouble on the carb

Adam is or was running a K & N in his own housing, to overcome the problems. I'd be interested to know exactly what age this GLT is please and what the prefix is on the plate.
Cheers,
Pete

interesting--- i did plane not to bolt the K & n directly to the crab but fab a suitable length of wide bore tube long enough to put the filter under the seat .
But how much this will effect carb performance is only a guess to me

ok , i have had a look and

i only need engine gearbox rear suspension drive shaft etc.

the body does not bother me in the slightest nor the number plates.

( plates will be needed just to move home )

but i will need V5 docs or you could have police around when i take it for the VOSA test

so

so the max i can go to is 100 quid - sorry limited budget

am i still your bitch :P

A lack of warm air for the carb can lead to carb icing, but I've yet to find this to be a problem with my sidedrafts which have no warm air intake. The other issue is that the carb should be re-jetted, or any (marginal, anyway) performance gain is negated.

cheers

Might be worth mentioning that the 1.4 is quite a spirited little engine. It looks tiny and sounds like a sewing machine, but whilst the lack of torque is noticeable it does pull quite nicely if you give it the revs.
