Wow!! Slick 50

Hi All,

Just thought I would like to share with you all that during my Volvo's last service I replaced 750ml of my usual engine oil with 750ml of Slick 50.....WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!!! I can't believe it. I'm not exaggerating here but the from the moment I started her up, the engine note quietened considerable before my very own ears!! Of course the tappets and exhaust note where slightly more audible, but the engine revved so much more smoothly - It even felt much more revvier than before...

I think my old oil filter may have been blocked slightly with dirty oil going around my engine, but the difference now is amazing. As soon as I drove off my driveway I could immediately feel more power and willingness in the engine, I had to readjust my driving style to the increase in power I've got now. That same drive I did, I got caught up in two street races (in London) which I won both!! I know some of you are laughing now but my engine's usual power figures are 80bhp (1.7l) , probable with dirty oil in my engine that was probable more like 78bhp, but now I would definitely say it feels like I guess about 86bhp!! Thats a quarter of the way to the 2.0l GTE power level!!! I'm well please!! Thats liquid engineering all right.

I do drive my 340 carefully, but when I did plant my foot to the floor the engine definitely revs up much quicker and pulls me quicker to 60... It even cruises now happily at 95,,,,before Slick 50, it was about 85!! I knew few of you will believe this, but just to finish off since using Slick 50 I have had to reduce my idling speed twice!!! - to compensate for the reduction in friction and engine heat. Even my fan kicks in much less now due to the cooler temp my engine is running. Of course apparently my engine will age no more now since using Slick 50, and I don't have to reapply it again in 12000 miles unlike Grease Lightening..

Please note, I have always used Slick 50 as my first power mod in all my previous cars and it has always given very good results, but I have got to say that my Volvo 340 loved this stuff the most!! Next power mod, K&N replacement filter..(I don't want the extra noise you get with the K&N induction kits)

P.S. I don't work for Slick 50, I just thought I would like to share my experiences with my fellow Volvo drivers!!

That was a party political broadcast for the slik50 party ,
seriously though I am going to do an oil change soon so will give it a try, Not sure if you should bother with the Kand N though from previous posts here it seems they cause carb icing and power loss

hrrrmmm... who do you work for again? slick 50's importers perchance?

Oh dear.... Did I tell you... I don't work for them.. but I've used Chris's Motor Fix in several of my car's. Works like a dream, and makes the car much easier to drive.

Several of my mates have also used Chris's Motor Fix, and all have been exceedingly happy with the results. Chris's Motor Fix seems to have increased power in all the cars it's used in, and now seemed to have gained another 10bhp (no matter what size engine... it's always a gain of 10bhp) I can't prove these figures, but it feels like they have gone up one trim level.

Chris's Motor Fix isn't available from me... but can be found in all good Chris's Motor Fix suppliers

doesn't chris's motorfix also give you leather seats, a bodykit and alloy wheels?? i think it makes your stereo louder and have more flashy lights too

Ahhh, thats a slightly different product my friend, known as Chris's Interior Fix, which is currently a trade only product. Market research is currently being conducted as to whether to release this product to the consumer

Thanks for the reply.

About the K&N problems some people have been experiencing (Carb icing and power loss) is this with the bolt on units or even if you just use a drop in K&N air filter replacement which uses the same air box as the original item?

Any replies most appreciated.

Cheers,
Nitrus (Charlie)

With using a replacement K&N filter using the standard air filter housing it's highly unlikely that you'll notice any difference in performance atall.

I just wanted to post some stuff i've read from various places over the web, mostly oil, engine building and performance related sites and its fairly easy to find the info with a google search.

after i saw your slick 50 rave i decided to give a friction modifier oil additive a shot as the armidale motorkhana was on that week and i thought "why not" and put some in. only after i put it in i realised it wasnt fully synthetic, so jumped on the net to see if mixing it with a fully synthetic oil would be bad.

Anyway one site was an article on slick 50 and went along the following lines.

slick 50 is near identical to teflon but under a different name (PTFE?)
if these miracle additives are so good why aren't the big oil companies putting them in their oils to start with
while it does indeed coat moving engine parts and reduce friction in those areas, it also coats non moving engine parts, like oilways, partially clogging them.
same site that made the above claim further from the results of independent tests(which were unavailible) showing that while wear was certainly reduced and power was increased, oil pressure had gone down slightly also "possibly from obstructed oilways" which had some carryon effect, accelerated wear from oil starvation or something along those lines

I dont know what to make of it, some of the reasoning from the article sounds logical, but i think the feedback from people who have used the products long term will be more influencial than the 'in theory' statements made by 'experts'. Anyway just passing my 2c worth, you make your own mind up.

agree with the above I run a yank tank they avoid slick and use molyslip products-hope this helps
