340/360 poly bushes

Post by classicswede » 01 May 2005 03:37 pm

After some of the discussion over the group buy the the torque rod bushes I thought I had best show everyone what I have already had made. I went out and changed the link rod bushes for orange one so they would show up better.

While I was changing them I noticed the body mount bushes looked close in size to a bush I am already making. I quickly gave it a go and it fits spot on. One less bush to develop :D

If anyone wants some of these please let me know the link rod bushes are £15 a set and the arb to body bushes are £10 pair.

I will buy both sets, also what others you can make I need them :)

I made a circle around link that has bushes at other end, those I would need too.

I have superflex ones fitted there to mine. I can make them all I will need is new rubber one as a patern. Does anyone have some?

Thanks

I've got some new ones, bought from Volvo dealer a year back and still lying in the box waiting to be installed. I'd have all those bushes as well. I'll see if I can find them. They're the ones that I said in the other thread were a pig to remove.

Hold on.

I've found them

So these poly bushes that you've had made, they're equivalent to the superflex ones?

My ARB link to suspension is bit different, but I think that same bushings will do.

I'll wait untill you have made all possible bushes and I will order them all at once.
That will keep the shipping cost down...

I'm potentially interested Dai. I've got some nasty knocking noises at the front which I'm presuming are bushes. I've yet to find time to have a proper look. So when I have I'll let you know. Good work, very useful stuff.

Pettaw thanks for looking it will be a big help to us all. Are the bushes cone shaped in two different sizes? Also we will need one of the bushes that fits into the wishbone.
The bushes are not exactly the same as superflex because they are made to my design and are also a lot cheaper. Also I can offer a choice of colours yellow orange blue or black if you want the bushes to look standard.

Thanks

The bushes I've got ARE the ones that fit into the wishbones. I don't have the steel outsidy bit though, for some reason Volvo don't sell those separately.

So do you think yours are better designed for comfort/longevity than the Superflex?

Sorry for all the questions.

I think the suspension is different on my car too, well, the 360 anyway.

Hold on, and I'll see if I can get a snap of them.

I use slightly softer material than superflex for road bushes but I can also offer extra hard bushes for copatition uses.
Polyurethane lasts a very long time and does not get eaten by oil etc.
Andy can you send me those bushes as a patern please.

Thanks

Right, here are the snaps.

The 340s ARE different from the 360s.

Here is the front suspension on my 1986 360

And here is the suspension on my brother's 1989 340.

LOL, I'd just been out and taken a pic once I checked them and found them to be different. Good work Andy. Definitely interested Dai, as that's where the noise appears to be coming from, one I managed to wriggle it about.
