what power SHOULD i have???

Post by cam740 » 11 Jul 2005 03:31 am

Had a dyno day on Sunday and my lil 360 (which admittedly aint running all that well atm!!) put out a WHOPPING 61rwhp - a number i was a bit disappointed in tbh!! I was expecting somewhere around teh 70-75 mark - was i being unrealistic???

What should a standard B200e put out??

as an aside i ran my 740t as well - i got 84rwkw (around 110rwhp as a guess??) with the a/c running and 91rwkw (122hp) with the a/c off!!

was surprised it made that big a difference!!

I get 109rwhp with B200K changed to FI and K-cam, so I would say that you should get around same or bit less as my tuning is not even nearly finished.

i gotta say thats about what i was thinking as well - if it came out with 85kw at the flywheel (so around 110 horses) then surely it whould have 80ish hp???

Might be explained by its shoddy idle at the minute! :?

With proper tuning it should give even bit more, but I have few probelms to fix before that :P

I think Foggy has over 110rwhp, maybe most powerful NA 300-serie on this forum?

Then of course turbos are way over these numbers, I guess.

i'm not massively concerned cause in the next 6-12 months there is a 2.3 lt conversion in its future but i'd still like it running better than that in the short term!!!

over 110hp with carby's - fair effort that!!

nope. there was a 2.3 on there - maybe 2 years ago? the advert wittered on about being good for towing..

no mention of a turbo thou :)

incidentally, whatever it had in there, its got to be better than the 45bhp (at the crank) that i've got at the moment. thats like 30bhp to the wheels, lol :)

WOOHOO there IS someone on here with less power than mine!! sm9

Was just thinking bout young James' car - he's got nearly as much power as my 740t at teh wheels and it's weigh 150-200kg less - thats impressive!!

transmission power loss

Post by brad360 » 14 Jul 2005 05:37 am

What do people think you lose between flywheel and rear wheels?

I can't believe 45hp becomes 30hp, that's losing 11kW or something. That energy has to go somewhere, things (gearbox, diff etc) would have to be getting very hot.

Or don't I understand something?

Brad i THINK that the generally accepted loss on a rwd is around 30 % - which basically works out that ya RWHP is near enough to ya flywheel KW.....

FWD's loose less from the engine to the wheels apparently - which i only found out on Sat!!!

I'm such a noob at this shit!!

of that 11kw not all of it is heat, energy is used to keep the masses rotating, wheels, driveshaft, Gearbox and diff internals, then theres the friction(and heat from it all) of the heat i think most of its in the gearbox... but it would certainly be interesting to know exactly how much power is used by the various components.

360 loses 18% to drivetrain.
