dumb question about the jack!

Post by bogbasic » 29 Aug 2006 01:31 pm

Hello, my 360 GLE has no jack and I think I have a spare jack for a 340 somewhere. Is the 360 jack the same as the 340 jack? I know it goes in the boot rather than under the bonnet. Cheers, bogbasic.

All Mk3 jacks are the same for 340's and 360's. I wouldn't like to comment on earlier models though. The jacks themselves are pretty good, the so called wheel brace combined with jack winding handle is a pathetic excuse for a wheel brace. I've twisted the end off of two trying to undo wheel nuts after some spanner monkey did them up with an airgun. I now always carry a breaker bar and a socket instead for actually undoing the wheelnuts, and I'd advise others to do the same.

When did the mk 3's start? Mine's an '88. I was only going to put the proper jack in the boot for cosmetic purposes. Cheers, bogbasic.

Mk3's were approximately 1986 from memory, the facelift versions. Yours is definitely what we on V3M class as a Mk3 being an '88 plated car.

True Steve, there were elements of Mk2 and Mk3 mixed together in some cars still, as with Andy's and my Grandmothers, both on C plates for 86 which confused me!
