Sorry to sound a bit of a thicky , but could some one explain to me about tracking. I have a nasty habit of bumping the front offside front wheel up the curb when I park outside my house (the curbs are very low) and i've noticed that the car wanders to the left a bit . I thought it was the tyre pressure so I checked that and it isn't. Iwas told it could be the tracking. Any idea how much it would cost to put right. If its too much I'll say s** it and put up with it (there's 10 months MOT on the car)
Cheers. ereg340
Tracking
Tracking should not be expensive to have checked but as with most things you may want to find someone reliable to do it. Places like KwikFit have a somewhat poor reputation for cocking up this sort of thing , as well as fiding all sorts of other stuff "wrong" with the car. Try googling "Kwik Fit" in uk.rec.cars.maintenance for a laugh.
I`ve even heard of them toeing out a 340, not realising it was RWD.
Might be worth checking the tyres are the same (brand, type etc.) on both sides or even swapping them over. Try swapping them front to back too.
Sometimes problems with the brakes and the suspension can also cause this problem - does the car do it all the time, is the steering otherwise precise and free of excess play?
