Ok please bear with me.

I posted a couple of months ago about my battery warning light flickering.

well typical me still haven't done anything about it, but the car has never had a flat battery or broken down/ not started. so today i had a day off so i've been looking into it.

first i took a reading straight across the battery which was 13.5v

next a took one at idle which was 14v

then i used the cig lighter as an in car pick up point and took it out for a drive. when the battery light was off the reading was 14-14.15v
but when the light came on it went up to 14.3v

can anybody hazerd a guess at what this could be? i'm confused.

any help would be appreciated

possible loose connection, belt slipping

just check the connections, heck check the bulb connections on the back of the dash maybe its just the earth playing up

You work at the local garage lee ;) Bit of a cockney accent, working under the arches, you'd do a great impression!!!

I agree though, although the voltages don't seem silly far off, but regulator on the alternator or even the one in the dash cluster could make the light go on with those voltages.

dont right it off right away, as i said check the connections could just be as simple as that these cars are known for dodgey earths, but like bennet says its the alternator just worth extingusihing the other options:)
