Hi everyone-hows it going?

I just wanted to get an idea of performance figures concerning the 340 and 360 etc.I know people have probably posted similar questions but im just curius about this...

According to the handbook lol-my 360 GLT has 111 hp 157 nm torque and weighs in at 1113kgs minus my frame .
In rule of thumb hp/weight that gives me pretty much 100 b/t.(i know its a bit antiquated a as method to get an idea of performance)

Question is-if you put a B230 Turbo 8v engine from a 740/760 Turbo. What would the weight (minus driver) come to? And what would the B/T be?

Im pretty ok at physics (not a geek tho lol) I know that aerodynamics-and air resistance at speed, gearing, weight, traction, etc all effect performance... but what do u guys recogn? anybody wana have a stab at this? Whos done the conversion? hahah keep us posted as im really curious! :) sm6  sm6

Not a great deal heavier, turbo+IC+pipes probably come to under 10-15kg, and that's about all you'd be adding. There's potential for 700hp with these engines, though you'd need to modify the driveline once you got over ~250lbft. A few have done it, a few are busy doing it, and everyone else would like to do it but lack time/money/skill.

thanks for the reply :) sounds really exciting 340pw so even by just swapping the block-there should be a significant increase in acceleration-its not bad in its original form but with the b230 turbo swap it falls into yet another category of car! i guess thats when grip and stability become more important-im too much of a wuz to take her out when its really wet lol (im a bit of a newb to driving rwd-i could do with some track experience really lol) sm6 haha sm4

360s are very nearly quick, I surprised a few folk in mine. With 200hp you'd be nearly 200hp/tonne, very close to scoobevo territory, but without the nanny state 4wd, active fun control systems.

haha very true and a lot of mums drive subaru's and evo's haha.the volvo requires true balls :) 200 hp sounds exciting? with a few upgrades from stock-i guess thats easily possible-will the drive shaft take the power and the torque added from tuning it to that kind of power? seeing that im not exactly a mechanic -i'll probably end up paying someone to fit the swap when i find a decent b230 ft or similar.i dont mind paying for it either as i appreciate the work and realise how expensive servicing on its own can be  haha once the rust is all sorted tho- if i can find someone then i'll defo see if anyone can do it for a small fee :)

200hp shouldn't worry the drivetrain too much, but I'd err on the side of caution and not abuse it too much. They're well nailed together these cars, but the diffs are a potential weak spot if you hammer the car loads. Spinning one wheel and not the other is sure to bust the planet gears in the diff.

thats a very valid point :) to be honest even just with the engine swap i think it'll get me a while to get used to as im relatively inexperienced in driving.I always have a lot of respect for the volvo as its wooped my ass before haha-but it'll be a fun learning curve in car control  340pw
