Sharp Right Turn = Grinding Noise

Hi Guys,
Just got back from the cinema with a full load of people in the 360 and noticed a low, dull grinding noise from what seems to be the front right wheel when pulling a hard right corner, close to full lock. Fine all other times and on left turns, but I'll admit to normally drowning out any noise with the sound of the engine, so it could be happening even on my own. Gonna jack it up and spin the wheels tomorrow but does anyone have any good starting places to look?
I'd have said CV joints on a FWD car, but I've checked the workshop manual and can't see anything obvious. If it was wheel bearings (
http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-uk/v ... turn#p2196) I'd have expected it to happen more on left turns, when that wheel was under load...
Any ideas?

Check your PAS system, that would be my first port of call. My mum's KA is currently suffering from the same symptoms and that turned out to be the PAS

Thanks for the tip, but I'm going to have to put my hand up and admit that I don't know what a PAS system is... :/

So I'm not sure exactly how the 360 one works but check belt tension and pump noise etc

(Slaps self) Power steering... Well I know the belt needs sorting because it squeels at full lock when parking etc, you think this would cause higher speed noise on just the one side as well?
I'll have a look this afternoon, see if I can't get the belt sorted too...

If its coming from the wheel is won't be PAS, but I guess it can be hard to tell.
Could there be anything rubbing against the wheel?
Anti-roll bar? (less likely if RH turn and RH wheel)
Wheel arch?
Brake hose?
What wheels and tyre sizes? Mileage?
With a car load of people is not unusual for an old car with perhaps weak (broken?) springs, or worn shocks.
It could still be wheel bearings, yes normally its the loaded wheel but it depends where the damage on the bearing is. The outer bearing is easy to check and usually the one that is damaged, the inner bearing is much bigger and I've never seen a damaged one. Just take off the bearing cap cover and undo the bolt/washer, you can then take out the bearing for inspection. Give it a wipe with clean tissue to remove excess grease and do not get any grit on it. Alternatively wash it in petrol and spin the cylinders. Do the same with the track (still in the bub) and check surfaces etc. Regrease with Castrol BNS.
Its as fairly basic job to take off the hub and knock out the track, but the bits of brake bracket etc can be stubborn to remove and bit of 'old bolt' skill is needed, and they should be torqued up properly to the huge torque afterwards. As is important for the wheelbearing bolt.

could be the plastic engine cover, if one of the bolts holding it in place breaks it bends an can eventually hit the wheel causing weird noises.
