Couple of Q's

Hey guys, just a couple of questions.. For reference it's a B14.4E engine :)

First of all the T-peice that comes out of the rocker cover for the PCV system, does that just pull out with a bit of working? Reason I ask is that I managed to snap off the T for the hose that runs to the base of the carb as that hose is taking in air from the atmosphere now, as much as it's probably not a major problem, if I can sort it then I will do

Secondly is I was wondering if anybody had the measurements for the Throttle linkage rod, apparently there are specific lengths it should be depending on engine variant (looking at the Haynes manual) and i'd like to double check and adjust if necessary the length of mine. Only problem is, Haynes doesn't appear to cover my engine Variant (B14.4E) unless i've misread it. Anybody able to shine any light?

Ta' dudes!

The t-piece should come off easily, but its got dried up crude in it could be tight. Twisting + penetrating oil might be the best approach, otherwise cut it off and replace. Try not to damage the rocker cover.

If you have broken off the small bit you have probably got the restriction still in the pipe, its important for the proper running of the carb, but apart from oil vapour in the engine bay it should not cause too many problems until its sorted. If not block the pipe to the carb otherwise too much air will get in after the throttle valve and it won't suck the right amount of fuel.

My manual does mention 14.1/2/3/4 in some areas, and is titled 76-91, but the throttle linkage table does only go up to 14.1E From chassi no... , so I'd say it should be that= 185mm +/-1mm. The general spec is that the throttle butterfly valve should be resting on its stops with the accelerator in rest position.

Thanks for that! Yer the restrictors still in the hose etc. and I have the hose away from the engines heat so shouldn't give me any noticeable grief, just one of those things if I can fix it, i'd rather it be fixed lol!

As for the linkage I take it you have your figures from the Haynes manual? As thats what I have, I'll check out the position of the butterfly valve and try gauge what length it should be at from that, thanks dude!

you don't have to look at that throttle linkage length on a B14, not even on the old models; that's pure haynes-rubbish talk with ©.

allways get the throttle cable slightly slack; make sure the butterfly is completely closed and then adjust the linkage till the dips match the balljoints
