The last two weekends have seen some work done on this car. The bubbling around the windscreen surround has been bugging me for a while, and the rusty rear doors don't do the car any favours so Rainer (from the Daf scene) has taken the car under his wing.
Currently, the car looks like this...
... note the Hazet hinge pin removal tool in the pic.
First job: taking the front windscreen out. Loosend the dashboard, removed the a-pillar trim and unscrewed the lower black clips, but it still broke on removal despite our efforts. I was trying to save the seal, but maybe we should have cut it instead to make it easier to push out. Never mind, I still have a spare windscreen which we'd saved from my scrapped GLi.
Cleaned up the windscreen surround, the left hand side needed a NOR repair panel welding in:
Just for the record, the part numbers for the A-pillar repair panels are
Klokkerholm 9005321 LH
Klokkerholm 9005322 RH
and the LH side is still available from

Metallic paints are harder to match, so I'm a bit worried about how it'll turn out. We'll see ...
Anyway, on to the doors. The donor doors aren't perfect (the drivers side has a deep scratch and a dent) but the metal is in a much better condition overall.
Old door:
New door:
Swapped the glass over (was missing from the "new" door), the door handle, fitted the electric winder mechanism and replaced the central locking motor for a new one (
Volvo 3205228). If the drivers' side doesn't work, all the motors don't work, I'm really looking forward to having that fixed ...
New Volvo weather strips for the window:
Volvo 3210590 LH
Volvo 3210591 RH
Weather strips are the same for front and rear, 3dr or 5dr (5dr ones are just cut to size), only the LH and RH sides are different. I only have one set, so out of the 4, the 2 which look the worst get replaced.
After all that work, refitting the perished door handle seals would have been silly, luckily Robbert has made up a stash of these for a very reasonable price:
They were a perfect fit, and Robbert posted these the day my money arrived, many thanks for that Robbert!

Next weekend it's on to the RH doors ...
Cheers
