Great work! See if you can get hold of a Mk1 'buldge' bonnet too, that'd go nicely with the 2 litre engine. I'm not sure if it might actually even be a requirement. It's kinda nice doing stuff to a car that started out rough, you don't feel that it needs to stay original/period  Did you reach an engine plan in mind, or is this going to be Jack's car? I seem to remember him telling me about the one with his name on at Crich!

No matter what condition the doors appear to be in, under that stainless surround they have seen better days! Cavity wax required for reassembly methinks!
I know, I intend to fully coat the inside with waxoyl or similar once it's painted

Yes, I think I'll need a bugle bonnet, so anyone out there with one to sell, let me know!

I'm fairly fixed on going down the B230 route, but I've yet to start on collecting engine parts for that (although foggy has some for me I believe). It'll be 11 years before Jack can drive so I we'll argue about who's car it is nearer the time! The number plate's his but the 343's mine

What do these bulged bonnets look like? I know they're shorter than mk2 onwards but If it's like a Capri 'power bulge' I'm guessing it could be incorporated into a later bonnet?

All the later bonnets in effect have the bulge built in, thats way they rise in the middle rather than drop like the Mk1. The Mk1 bulge bonnet has a similar over bulge in the middle like the later bonnets but within the lines of the MK 1bonnet, giving a step down then up effect. Not like a Capri bulge, although I'm sure one of those could be added to a normal Mk1 bonnet!

Don't forget to save me the door cards for those MK1 doors when you change them! (I could do with the silver strip inside the passenger door for mine as it's a little damaged.

The actual pin removal didn't take too long on the drivers side (unlike the passengers side!) 2 minutes for the top and 5 or 10 for the really seized bottom one. I spent more time buying tools and faffing about

Ah. I do like the bulge on the later bonnets, but something a little more in your face, but still on the right side of subtle could be awesome I reckon.

The doors are already changed in theory lol. The 343 is wearing my mk2 doors and the quarter lights doors are lying about in my garage. The cards/mirrors etc are yours mate. One has damaged chrome trim inside though! Hope its's not the side you need!

Glad to hear you showed the other pins who's boss! :D

[EDIT] I don't like the mk1 bonnet! (Although that R Sport looks a nice example) Oh well.

Great work, look forward to reading more about this car! Well done on getting those inner wing repair panels, I don't think I've ever seen those before.

Power-bulge Mk1 bonnets crop up from time to time, Europe-wide though  B19-engined 343s weren't sold in the UK, but I have seen one sold on UK Ebay a while back.

I don't need hackers in the computer to balls things up, I'm perfectly capable of doing that myself

Let me know if you see one come up, I'd like to have as many bits as poss ready before I get my teeth into the project so I don't get stuck waiting for something! I don't really have a timescale as such, and it's not going to be finished quickly but I'd imagine it's just like the building trade, it's best to have all the materials on the job before you start. Also need to spread the cost out too!
As it's going to take a while I'll post quite a bit of detail on here and ask for advice when I can't find info in the search box!

I'll be bogged down soon by the 340 (M.O.T. time soon) as it need a few things sorting, mainly non M.O.T. stuff though, and I've got to M.O.T. the 360 too (not that that should be too hard!)

I can definitively state that the 'flat' bonnet *does not* clear a redblock. Been there, done that...! I can probably supply one...but I think Chris wants one too, and I want to keep a spare myself, so I need to count if it's 3 or 4 I have...sm56

That reminds me, it's about time I revived the R-Sport thread...V3M hasn't seen pictures of the fresh paint yet!

4  Hope you have got a 'spare' to sell :D . I suppose it must be possible to make some kind of bulge out of a standard Mk1 bonnet with a bit of cutting and welding, just a case of making it looking right though. Lot of work and would prefer the real thing! Could always just cut a hole in the bonnet and fit an supercharger
