Cheers!
Gone back to leos. didn't like the wide ones, they do have much more grip and zoomed round bends but i could feel every bump and crack in the tarmac (old man moment) and they have TOO MUCH grip for going round roundabouts if you get me
So anyone want to buy them? local collection only. Do have some folk interested already
Been on 2 'photoshoots' today pics in a bit.
Cheers,
Matt

At lot of wet and dry paper, elbow grease and worn out finger tips!
Don't use a low grade paper as you'll regret it later when trying to get the deep gouge marks out.

Re: Nimminz' GLT
No bother at all mate, Here is how i did my pug 205 alloys which i put the most workinto and the results really showed it.
YOU NEED:
Wet and dry paper: 120, 240, 480, 600, 800, 1200, 2400
3x Halfords 500ml Primer
3x Halfords 300ml Colour
2x Halfords 500ml Laquer
Shit loads of time and motivation
PREP
-remove tyres, valves and centercaps.
-Nitromors entire wheel until completely bare of paint
-Sand the entire wheel by hand starting with 120 grit dry, then 120 wet, then 240 dry, 240 wet etc.
-change water and rinse wheel between grits
-Use every grade of paper up to 800
-Clean wheel thoroughly
-Dry wheel thoroughly
MASKING
-Use masking tape for edges making sure it is stuck right down!
-Newspaper can be taped down for large areas past the edge.
-Household detergent also is ok for masking tyres but I'd always say take the tyre off
PAINT
-Never mix brands of paint/primer/lacquer
-Room temp, no wind, dust, good lighting + ventilation
-Halfords 500ml tins primer (use correct colour depending on what paint colour you are using)
- Lots of light coats allowing 15 mins between each, spray in sideways motion.
-Don't start or stop spraying with the nozzle pointing at wheel as this gives drips (rimer, colour and lacquer)
-Give 2 coats extra after the whole wheel is covered.
-Do both sides
-leave overnight
-use 1200 wet and sand the primer to key the surface ready for colour to be applied
-wash thoroughly
-Dry thoroughly
-Apply colour in same way as primer, although i only leave about 10 mins between coats
-Do backs of wheel first the leave over night and then turn over to do fronts
-I don't leave the paint to dry after the final coat on the fronts, 15 mins then...
-Halfords 500ml tin Lacquer
-Spray from further distance and much lighter coats as lacquer runs extremely easy
-Wait 24 hours then do the backs
-I don't wait for the colour to dry completely as it seems to bring the paint to a much higher gloss
-Leave lacquer 24-48 hours in warm environment before proceeding.
FINISHING
-Use 1200 wet on dried lacquer
-then 2400 wet and higher if you can. WET ONLY
-Clean thoroughly then polish
-For polishing bare alloy continue past 800 grit in PREP stage right up as high as you can and then use silvo or similar (could also be done after)
OVERALL COST ~£60 for paint £5 for wet+Dry paper and that will cover 4 wheels, some companies charge like £75 a wheel!
Hope that helps!
These days i have no time so it tends to be
-nitromors
-clean+dry
-fairy on the tyres
-Laquer
-20mins
-paint
-laquer
-overnight
-Fit to car
Although you really can tell. My leos are getting more and more chips and cracks in the paint every mile.

Re: Nimminz' GLT
Fair enough, i've only polished mine. With the exception of some Celica Supra alloys which i sprayed the backs of the spokes black on. I just gave the surface a light key with W+D then Halfrauds primer, top coat and lacquer.

Re: Nimminz' GLT
Today i tidyed up the wiring for m electric fan, and changed the switch from a tacky toggle switch taped to my CB radio, to a volvo heated seat switch:

The sideways one
Didn't like the look of it with the heated seat symbol on so put a bit of tape over for now

Better, needs a spray black, then a fan symbol in white
Also ditched the JVC stereo CD player for my orig. volvo one

Got a cheap tape to headphone jack thing to put in me phone for my tunes
Thanks for looking

Re: Nimminz' GLT - Peco exhaust and many pictures
Looks good - do get that rust sorted before winter though, it's at the point where it'll be easy to catch - any more and things get annoying!
