Re: Anjo's Project Car: 1986 340GT Special, B14Turbo
Dude I so want to see this car. Come to a V3M meet this year! Surely we can all chip in for the ferry ride?

sounds like a good idea to come over to that side of the channel, getting some faces by the names but i'd rather go to the UK when the car is actually finished

with thanks to Wouter (Antiekeradio), enjoy

on this video the exhaust manifold has allready cracked, in fact i believe that it was on the way to leidschendam it gave up. it's much quieter in the engine bay now that i sorted that.
next vid will hopefully be a view from the passenger seat

Re: Anjo's Project Car: 1986 340GT Special, B14Turbo
cheers
sound is the sachs paddle clutch, i'm waaaay too kind for my driveline resulting in the clutchplate to eventually eat up pressureplate and flywheel. technically it's a driver fault you really allmost need to use that type of clutch as a on or off button...
big problem is the welded diff in combo with the paddle clutch, it's a solid springless plate (i'll see if i can find a pic tomorrow) and there is only a certain rpm/level of the pedal where it gets drive but doesn't squeek, parking is a squeeking drama, under normal or rough driving i clutch it rough enough not to hear it
i am thinking about changing it though, maybe a lighter flywheel (the stock b14's 14kg flywheel is overdone imo) from a renault with reinforced pressureplate and organic clutchplate, or at least a paddle clutch with springtype suspension (like stock clutchplate) to catch the biggest blows

Re: Anjo's Project Car: 1986 340GT Special, B14Turbo
a few new goodies:

much more ultrap*rn goodies coming soon!!!!!
downpipe support:

free hand welding;

placed window streamer 5cm up, why do they put the trafficlights so high

took the frontspoiler off the car since i nearly hit every bump, was tired of that awfull sound

current stance, without stailess exhaust:

this weekend i'm painting the downpipe support bracket and will mount it, next week fitting the EBC pads as a temporary braking "improvement" then i'm using the 2 bends on the 1st pic to modify the downpipe so the exhaust has less tension in it, it allready teared twice at the damper.

Good work, but...
Would that get through an APK with that on? I think not.

Re: Anjo's Project Car: 1986 340GT Special, B14Turbo
it did actually
there are specific guidelines for it in the APK rulebook, i have to check it but i think that this way it's ok. it used to be way lower!

Must have been a blind man testing. I'd be interest to see the APK rulebook notes, as it wouldn't get past a UK MOT* nor IRL NCT. Having said that I believe that in the Netherlands the APK is done by appointed garages rather than independent testing stations. (hence Stevie Wonder doing the testing occasionally)
(*except perhaps if very short wiper blades were fitted so that the strip was outside the swept area)
Imagine try to get that through a TÜV

hahaha, well it covered about 1/3 of the windscreen first, was extreme: http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b192/ ... 67c242.jpg
MOT man said that he would allow it but if the RDW wanted to check the mot then it would go off. right now if you pull down the sunvisors those are 5cm lower.
for the apk you are allowed to have a visor strip, but regulations say you need to have at least 20cm vertical visibility from the top of steering wheel up; it is something like that anyway, don't know if top op steering wheel is used for the measurement i'll have to look that up. wiper blades conflicting with the sticker are not a apk failure

Nice one!
You have a good APK man, just like I had a good MOT who didn't roller brake test the rear brakes on my DAF, but didn't go for a road test with the Tapley either. (Also let me off with an advisory on my sloppy steering rack too, but that's another story)
I can see the point in having a sun strip, but I don't have one myself. I get annoyed at having to look at the traffic lights through the rain (with the LHD wiper sweep of my DAFs, Citroen and Volvo).

Seven Gauges??
I give up.
If youve already got a speedo and rev counter, what are the extra seven going to indicate dude?
Turbo, oil level, oil pressure, volts, .............................. then im a bit lost?
