dunno, probably not as strong as it would be had i not cut it but reckon it will do. Still need to do a bit more welding round the box section that comes up.

Adding the turn buckle is gonna be the hard bit now :/

got the bar part mostly done:

All works and is pretty strong considering it still needs re-enforcing where the threaded bar meets the box section.

Tomorrow will be a measuring, welding, checking, drilling, test fitting, more drilling and fingers crossed paint day :D
Thursday should then be final fitting. I may be ordering some new rear dampers soon too as i'm pretty sure passenger side is a lot lower at the back than the driver's

Thanks for looking,
Matt

Fab work Matt! (get it? "fab"? ) Wicked stuff dude. Powder coating or just a spray job? Should work a treat!

Cheers, powdercoating?! surely that would cost money? haha rattle can all the way, wilco's finest satin black :D . Got some nice SS bolts to mount my fan relay onto the brace (rather than the orange bracket on the bulkhead. And the threads won't get sprayed so will look nice i think silver and black. Was gonna do it white but its the engine bay, try as i might it would never keep clean.

Not done anything more on the brace, was too hot to be welding and grinding today. Got my new (old) CB radio fitted though :)

Mounted the aerial further to the front so i could run the cable sraighter and earth the antenna mount without breaking any paint :)

Works better than the modern one i had before and looks a zillion times cooler :)

Re: Nimminz' GLT - Rear shocks replaced

Replaced the rear shocks today :)

Car feels much better now, cornering has greatly improved and pulling away off the lights, even without any 'enthusiasm' is much more comfortable.

Want the front doing next :D

Did a bit on the strut brace last week, or the week before, i forget. Been busy working for me dad to get some cash for more volvo bits :D

Image

Just got the holes to drill and the short bars to chop down about 15mm and its all good :) Will tidy it up blocking the holes etc. and maybe some extra bracing inside the angles

Next thing that has gone on the car is the gear lever support bracket weld has broke off. Going to take the top apart and weld it from above, one day lol

Matt

Yeah that way of thinking came under test for me today when i lost all the gears except 4th and 2nd (after removing the gear lever surround) lol

I'd do both shocks if you can, i always like to replace stuff in pairs if it's something like that. Aye i've ordered some new polybushes for the front of mine off Dai :)
