Re: Derrick the Volvo! (pic heavy p3)
Good luck man. Hope it is something simple.
Do a search for "carb base warp" for more info. possibly "air leak" too.
Theyve both been covered by better men than me.

Odd... mine just started doing this today too... and incidently will also be checking it tomorrow haha! good luck with your fix bud

Re: Derrick the Volvo!
AH HA! Snapped idle solenoid connection, simple solder job. No idea how it happened mind, though looking at it, its bloody fragile! Hopefully that'll solve the missfire problemo.
QR boss is fitted and working well, need to wire up the horn, and hopefully Dai's lowering kit etc will turn up tomorrow too! Just wish it was warmer!

Re: Derrick the Volvo! (pic heavy p3)
VND's guess wasn't farr off, as a airleak will also "solve" itself if you pull the choke out a bit.
glad it's sorted

Re: Derrick the Volvo!
Received the bits I ordered off dai today!
Only got one block fitted though. 26 years of rust, dirt and grime tests your strength and patience! And of course, your hands end up like this:

Tomorrow sees the rest of the lowering kit going on and the ARB link kit. was in uber need of the link kit, the rubber bushes may as well not be there.
Blocks -2" and ARB kit

190lb springs -3"

Block fitted!

Oh, and also the re-soldering of the idle solenoid'll be done tomorrow too.

Good effort! But please tell me there's an axle stand somewhere hidden in that last pic

Re: Derrick the Volvo!
yes there is, just off cam to the right. The jack is just low enough to get in and out. its not resting on it!

Re: Derrick the Volvo!
Aye Lad! Looks sweet, though a lil weird, as i have the super stretched tyres on the back atm, and 55 profiles on the front, so laid back a tad! i'm gonna swap the wheels over tomorrow and take some pics. He's running awsomely at the mo too, sorted the carb issue, and tested out the new springs. I swear their not -3" though!theo2468 wrote:done it yet?

One thing to note, is as i was swapping the springs over, i found both front shocks had collapsed as well. It doesnt bounce around alot, though the lower height has hightlighted the issue a little. Another thing to do!
Got the F7R engine hopefully sunday, and have begun aquiring bits for the engine swap. Braided hose for the catch tank and connectors ordered, and I'm going to bend back the other pair of banded steels, so I'll have matching wheels! (hence why they were £50!)
So, pictures: I got eaten, mate Alex helped here!

Difference in heights

Mate John helped the next day. ended up being a corner a day. Bloomin bolts.

ARB link. No more play in the anti-roll bar now!

Cheers to Dai for all the chassis bits.
Hopefully some full car shots tomorrow!

Couple of 1.7 bits turned up today for the conversion.
clutch, and clutch cable.

Also managed to get the door seals done, finally! Old ones were like brittle plastic.
Once it stops raining, i'll try and get some more pictures done.
