Shame im still struggling to find a F7R Megane bottom end localy, the ones i have found are all 3 1/2 Hours drive away! or £50 dlievery, which bumps the price up quite a bit.
Still considering just rebuilding the 1.8, does seem a shame to waste this opportunity tho.

rebuild the 1.8, and gather parts at the same time.

Are there any complications in making a hybrid F7? Or straight fit? Does the extra power come from higher compression? How much do they get out of them?

Re: WooDooUKs ReVolvo Project (Update 05/03/09) Answers!!
thyre fairly high compression to begin with.
i would say it has something to do with the stroke length etc of the 2l bottom end couple with the valve opening times of the 1.8 head

Re: WooDooUKs ReVolvo Project (Update 05/03/09) Answers!!

F7P cylinder heads fit perfectly on to F7R bottom ends... Use the F7R cylinder head gasket though as the bores are marginally larger than the 1.8 (I forget what the bore increase is but its not much).
There's nothing else to swap unless you're using a Megane F7R-710/714 bottom end as the flywheels are a larger OD and trigger pattern. This is only important if you're planning to run the hybrid engine on original 1.8/2.0 Williams ECU's as these units don't recognise the later 60-2 trigger.
hmm infact i think its something like this
F7p Spec's are. 83.5 mm crank, and 82mm bore. not 100% sure on 83.5 it might be 83. but deffo 83. something
F7R Spec's are 93 mm and 82.7 mm bore
Essentially the only difference is crank throw... it's not 100% identical but that's the main difference however a 1.8 block needs loads of work to get the 2.0 crank throw to fit. Just fit a complete F7R bottom end as it's not only cheaper but its quicker to.

Re: WooDooUKs ReVolvo Project (Update 05/03/09) Answers!!
Cheers fella, I'm interested in the hybrids as I can lay my hands on a megane 7R, and might build one up for when (not if) I burst my F7P.
What makes the P head better than the R head? Apart from avoiding the coil packs that people don't like? That's not even a problem if you change the management but I can see why many people avoid them.
