Hmm, maybe a little investment in a rev limiter needed?

Good luck with rebuilding it!

Balls! That's a shame mate, but atleast it's given you a taster! You'll have another lump in there soon I'm sure. Rather fancy a 16v 340 myself after all this pimping

It's no biggie guys, if I can get my hands on a lump this Saturday, it'll be running on Sunday. I've done all the hard work, swapping the engine like-for-like is easy. Got my eye on one in Barnsley, cheap and cammed (thanks to VND for the heads-up), which is about the closest one to me, all the rest are miles away.
The type-R driver flagged me over once I'd let him past and wanted to know what was under the bonnet (it was still working at that point). He said he couldn't catch me until we passed 60, then he was on my bumper but didn't have enough to overtake. He couldn't believe it when I showed him the lump  mutual respect and smiles all round.

 yeah, except the only reason he followed me was because he said it sounded like a honda, it was revving so high. The carbs make the most fantastic racket at 7k.

*Copy* *Paste*

"BorrrRRRRRRRp, BOORRRRRRRRRRRPPPP, brrraaaaeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP, phut phut phut, oh sh1t."

Except without the breaking part at the end, and imagine it slightly lower in pitch.

I'll head straight over as soon as it runs then, so you can get a listen before it goes the same way as the first one.
