need to know the names of 2 front suspension parts
hey, in the snow i slid into a kurb and rather than my tyre bursting/alloy breaking, my car took the impact.
i need to replace 2 parts, but i dont actually know what there called haha.
first part is what connects the lower front ball joint to the car, (ive snapped mine) see pic:
oops..
next is the rod that stops the strut moving backwards and forwards:
as you can see, its lovely and straight!!!
if anyone can help it will be greatly appreciated as i need to replace them before i sell it!

Well it does vary on who you ask, which is why pictures always win.
First one on the Volvo parts list is "control arm" the second one just "rod".
I'd call the first one a lower wishbone and the second one a tie rod. Horses for courses.

Oh dear, check where the radius arm connects to the chassis and check that it hasn't folded at all in that area, it's what usually kills 300s when they hit kerbs

i think it was the rod that took most of the force, the lower arm just sheared from that i think. where it mounts looked okaySpeedy88 wrote:Oh dear, check where the radius arm connects to the chassis and check that it hasn't folded at all in that area, it's what usually kills 300s when they hit kerbs
