340 suspension

Post by 340cbr » 23 Nov 2005 03:59 pm

After some playing with my 340 1.7 I've seen that I really need to stiffer the car, it rolls to much..

In the front I'll put new springs and AA bar. What brand of springs do you recommend?

In the back I don't now exactily what to do. Fitting a rear sway bar is possible? And if I put another stiffer road spring above each rear roadspring

I'm interested in lowering the car to...

Sorry for my english it's really bad today, and I don't know If I used the correct technical terms.. I hope that you understand me

Well you are at the right place here looking at suspension. Classicswede is a good person to talk to in this subject. He can supply you with poly bushes and lowering springs etc. Also check out 'My bros 5 link setup' in accessories and tuning its awesome!!!

Yeah, i've seen that topic... Awesome transformation!

But I don't think that a car with that tranformation will pass the Inspection here in Portugal :?

I'm looking for some easy efficient tricks

make some lowering blocks for the rear. Im planning to make like a 50-60mm drop all around. Leaving it on 13" steelies as well.

And im planning to cut of a coil at the front and hope i get an even drop.

Should help i suppose. cheap and effective.

I dnt no how u treat your 340, i treat mine like whatever and dnt really care what happens to it. So i dnt worry about cutting coils etc. But if you want to down a more professional route then get some hardened springs.

I must say I'd never recommend cutting coils from springs - uprated springs from Dai aren't expensive anyway.

I must say cutting spring in good nick is a bad idea cutting old soggy ones is even worse :(

The probblem with doing that is one they will not sit correctly and two you will have a very soggy ride. Every time you go over a bump the suspension will bottom out with a bang :!:

Have a look at the " performance cat " in the offer section.
If you want further info just ask.

Cutting is not very safe...

The car will be used in some track days, and "road nights" , eheh

classicswede, can you make a description of everything that you have on the performance cat topic, what everything is, where is mounted, and what differences will made?

Because I don't understand some english technical terms

Maybe I'll be interested in something

Ok here goes

Rear Spax adjustable dampers-totaly transforms the road holding, allows adjustment for indivdual requirements.

Rear lowering blocks-spacers to lower the rear ride height of the car.

Front lowering coil spring- can be used to lower and stiffen the front end of the car.

Front wishbone bush and tie bar bush(poly)- improves location of the front strut esetial for any performance 300.

Anti roll bar link rod kit- helps the anti roll work( best results would be with an uprated a-r-b

Anti roll bar to body bushes- improves locaton of a-r-b

Poly front engine mounts- helps to save the prop by holding the engine in place(does not transmit vibration through the car)

I'm sure I have missed something but let me know what you think.

Thanks!

The rear lowering blocks I think that I know someone that can do it for me. I need to take de measures to ask him if can do it. They are alluminium right?

I need some front springs to lower and stiffen it. Maybe I contact you in the future cause I can't get it arround here...

I'd love to get the rear dampers but that's to much money. I have thought in another ways to stiffen the back of the car... maybe another set of rear road springs (stiffer).

The other pieces are very interesting but not for now

How much do you recommend that I lower the car?

I'm going to install in the car four 400's whells in 14', 185/60 R 14, i think. They are ugly, but i hope that they do a big increase in handling compare to mine 13's.

It's easy to put a 240 rear sway bar in the 300?

They lift the axle up off the springs= wheels sitting higher in the body.
