Steel wheels are probably the best thing for drifting as you wont be bother if sorry when you trash them.

I wanted to get those anyway.. might take a while to get them mounted. They have to come from germany and I'm not sure if the seller will ship them for me (otherwise I'm looking at a 400 mile roadtrip :( ).
I'm in the process of painting the 360 in official rallycross colours (the black/white thing), and the arches are kind of mandatory. Just need to figure out if they are going to be scratchbuilt or if I can modify some other ones (a friend of mine has some molds for ridiculously wide 70's corolla coupe arches).

Check, the widened wheelarches are in the house..Waiting for the 13x8 rims to see whether these arches will be wide enough to let the 245 slicks tuck under.

i've heard that changing ofset spoils the geometry of the suspension...i have olso heard that causes stability problems when breaking ... have you noticed something;

Havent really driven with the 13 inch wheels yet (only 1 lap around the volvo dealership where we work on the car). So I cant tell you if it will do any harm. Have driven with 15 inch ATS Cup's in ET20 for a while though, without any problems that werent there already (rear brakes were bad back then...causing the car to pull to the right while breaking).
I dont see what significant change there would be to geometry anyway. The rear is solid so it stays exactly the same (negative camber is the same regardless of the offset).
That only leaves the front and the increased grip sure as hell makes up for any negative geometry sideeffects that there might be.
I would be more worried about the effect of lowering the front (bumpsteer), but even that isnt very bad on my 360.

I have just fitted 13x8, ET:04 on my car, no rubbing...Tyres:195\55-13" But it is in need of some serious lowering.. ClassicSwede I have heard you can help with that? (80mm? )

Pics from when i tested the rims:

Hmm, I don't think that it is possible to lower 80mm, problems at rear are that gearbox is hitting ground, reaction bar (or is it traction bar?) is not designed to get to that angle and driveshafts may be in wrong angle, but I'm not sure of that.

Also at front that would require removing of bump stops and still it leaves quite little suspension travel, maybe 1cm or so :lol:

I think that 60mm is practically maximum that you can lower without redesigning suspension parts, also extreme lowering is not giving any performance gain over proper spring + dampers and 20-40mm lowering depending from car model ;)

well, with no springs at all, the ghetto car would look like this..

that was actually resting the top of the tyre on the bottom of the arch liner..

you can see that (just) nothing else touches the floor here..

I have read from here and from other places that going lower than 60mm lowering is causing really bad problems with gearbox touching ground etc. Don't know then, maybe only when attacking curbs and going to parking lot that is behind sidewalk etc. as your ghettoracer seem not to have that trouble, however getting tires to hit top of wheel wells might cause some interesting behavior, :lol:
