Not annoying at all, although if in doubt, come to the meet in Milton Keynes tomorrow - appearance there grants you the answers to 10 potentially annoying questions! ;)

cheers

:o , how ruuuude lol, havnt got my car yet but ive got a eagles eye on one car which is a 1.4 from somewhere  , whats peoples thoughts on shoving a turbo onto a 1.4, alot of effort?, can you use smaller turbos?(not looking for alot since the insurance guys will go mental with their calculators), would anything break if it was around 140bhp?, or is the engine just a waste of metal to invest in, just dont want to rip a engine out since my college wont let me do it and put something bigger in due to it would be their fault if i had a fault with the car at high speed and crash etc, a 1.4 turbo would be hopefully insurable and cheap if possible to create.

thanks

Get yourself an engine from a Renault 5 GT Turbo. That will get you somewhere...

it would be f*cking quick but i wouldnt be able to pull out enough money to pay someone to fit another engine in and the insurance for a engine conversion would stab me right in my wallet, is the 1.4 not a good engine put a turbo on, would save me time and effort.

thanks

The renault GTT engine is exaclty the same engine as the one in your volvo exept for some changes to make it work with a turbo . An engine swap should nog be to hard to do. Not much electronics in those engines.
It takes quite a lot of work to make a normal 1.4 suitable for a turbo.
Turbo engines have lower compression ratio's other inlet and outlet manofolds, other exhausts and so on...
The easy thing to do is to swap engines.

i may go with that plan, just got the problem of telling insurance guys that its not the original engine and it will go from the quote i got of 1350 tpft to around 2500, im going to sit on this and think lol.

Seems like the smart thing to do...
But how were you going to hide your bolt-on turbo plan from them? 8)

with jedi mind tricks lol, its just the insurance people give nasty quotes for engine conversion because its not the original engine, im predicting it should be cheaper if it was the original engine unless i could hide the renault logo and replace it with volvo

Good luck!
Make sure you get all the right parts before you start.
Take a good look at both engines to make sure I did not overlook some stupid things...
If you are gentle on the throttle the drivetrain will last.
Dont do any trafficlight sprints with full throttle from the line... things WILL snap...

ah. was thinking of doing some drifting at some events in the future but i might not since putting all the effort in and wasting it all on one drift day. not worth it. may make plans in the future but engine conversion is on my mind at the moment.

thanks
