Hey guys and gals,
I need some advice: I should be purchasing some shiny new adjustables for my 340. Now, my problem is, my toolbox is still in it's infancy, and I'm wondering what tools exactly I'll need for this job. I've had a look at the "blue book" I think it's called. I know I need spring clamps, which are on their way to me already, but I'm struggling with a couple of tools that I don't recognise:
And a different type of spring compressor:
Any ideas or alternatives?
Thanks
Matt

Provided you have a decent socket set, along with your spring compressors you'll be fine, i didn't need any special tools. It's hard to tell what the top pic is, possibly a special tool for getting the top nut off of the damper for draining/changing the oil? If thats the case a decent set of Swan neck pliers will do the trick.
Similar thing with the other pic, i can't actually tell what it is
*Edit, it could be a ball joint separator?

Whats the matter with the car i'm driving can't you tell that it's out of style?

Yeah you'll probably need a ball joint splitter to get the strut off at the bottom end.... I'd normally use a hammer but there's not any swing room in there.

Cantilever ball joint splitter, all the other types are useless.

Your local motor discount should sell you a canti ball joint splitter for about £15. A seriously sound investment as they absolutely dominate ball joints.

You'll need medium plumbers shifters to get the big shock retaining nut off. Bolt the strut back into the wheel, after removing the springs, and stand on the wheel (flat on the ground), then use the shifters on the nut.
