Brake discs and pads?

Hi,

I'm going to need some new brake discs and pads fairly soon, as my 360 is starting to judder under mild braking...

Volvo don't sell them anymore, and most of the local motor factors can't - or won't get them.

Ebay, and the specialist performance shops are my friend here, so what brand should I look for? GreenStuff maybe, EBC? Girling? bite the bullet and go for Brembo?

I have usually found Disks are pretty safe because they are very simple to make accurately, but god knows if some cheapo manufacturer has found some way to make them badly by now! Pads are more risky and all are 'pattern' now, so depends how well they have been copied. Check how well the disk edge and pad lines up, if they are too far out the disk will not wear well. I don't have much recent experience with any of the ones you mention, I will probably go for Mintex, but there are some threads about pads so have a good search.

Disk changes are difficult BTW, check for threads here before attempting.

Thanks for that,
I'm not going to change them myself, I've always had a phobia about touching brakes ( I've done them on other peoples cars years ago... go figure)

Talking to the local Volvo specialist, he'd charge me roundabout 600 dollars to change discs and pads for proper good ones OR I can go get the old discs machined, as they're still within tolerance and bung on a cheaper set of pads for half that.
All boils down to how much I want to pay really, anything for Volvo over here is priced up with the BMW/Merc stuff

Mind you, I've just shelled out 70 dollars (about 30quid) for a set of HT leads, 20 dollars for a Rotor arm and 25 dollars for a dizzy cap so I'm kinda on a roll here :)

Ah if it keeps the thing on the road for another coupla years, it's worth every penny!
