hi guys I have a bent n/s lower arm (connects from chassis to ball joint)
Where the bloody hell can I find one? Local parts shops like parkers etc are no use and I cant find anything online.
Before im linched I have used the search tool!
Do anybody make uprated versions?
Don't mind stock but still can't find one!
Does anybody here have a spare?
Any help will be gratefully accepted
Cheers Dan

Hi Dan,

Before I lynch you, where are you located. That would be a good starter-for-ten.

I've borrowed this pic, so you can confirm it's the roundy bit and not the lower arm itself (which goes from front subframe to lower ball joint)

In fact, there's lots of good pics in that thread

The control arm/tie rod goes from the lower arm to bracket bolted to the subframe.

The roundy bit is described by Volvo as the rod. The lower wishbone is described by Volvo as the control arm. All very confusing to me.

Anyway, neither part is handed and are the same (I think) for all models. Which is nice.

Most unique non-service parts for the 300 are no longer available new, but you should be able to get one second hand, they do not commonly need replaced. If you want to uprate one, get a welder.

Ball joints are available. If you have damaged the arm you may have bent the crossmember/bolt/radius arm/radius arm mounting aswell, unless the arm was very weak through rust or it has been hit directly.

I see Macplaxton has replied as I write this, not sure I agree with the correction. The lower arm does go from the subframe to the balljoint, so does the radius arm (on one bolt), if we are being strict about language neither part goes to the chassis. I had assumed the OP was referring to the lower arm and not the radius arm.

A picture of the damaged part is always useful and impressive:)

mac calls them (the "rods" something else. We've come up with four different names for the same thing. Hence finding a pics, pointing and arm waving. :D

I try and not to assume anything - the title says "track control lower arm" and the post "lower-arm" - as the OP could be talking about one bit and we're talking about another. Either way whatever part it is he shouldn't have too much trouble finding one. (or a set as if one is bend then so can the other.

Hi guys cheers for the replies my pics are too big to upload unfortunately.
It's definatly NOT the round rod it is the lower arm the ball joint bolts onto (2 bolts) and also to the subframe.
Anyone know someone with one for sale or someone who's breaking a car?
Merci beucoup

load pics into paint,
enter 50 in each of the boxes and resave, that should bring the pictures into size.

I'd say this is the one djntrap is on about as he did state the one with the ball joint connected to it in his first post,

If I'm wrong shoot me 8)

Borrowed pic from macplaxton reply, hope that's alright.

try john, he mght have one spare: http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-uk/v ... =8&t=12284

I'd check the raduis arm mounting point, corssmember mount etc. as they could be bent too.

As for upgrades,
I've plated mine to stiffen them up a bit:
Image
probably the only way of uprating them without going complete custom made
If you were thinking of doing that when you find a new one, you won't be able to plate all the way along like mine due to needing access to the back of the Anti roll bar mount in the centre

Got the idea from this thread: http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-uk/v ... e&start=15

Polybushes are available for them too: http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-uk/v ... f=8&t=1804

Hope that helps!
Matt
