My brake pedal makes a "Puffing" sound when I depress it, is this normal?

Hi Justin
I think you need to get your brakes bled.
Sounds like there is a bit of air in the system
I got a cheap brake job done once, big mistake. The bastard nearly killed me.
You can skimp money on most things but always get your brakes done properly.
Cheers Mark.

Hi Ben.
I could never work out why Fred Flintstone never got blisters on his feet while
stopping his car. It must have been even harder whith Barny and Betty in the back seat
Cheers Mark.

I dont really hear the puffing sound when I depress my brake pedal when the cars running, its just when my engines off, my brakes feel ok now and much less spongier...

I've noticed it before, always assumed it's the sound of the vacuum assistance effect from the engine stored up when the engine's off. It only does it until all the vacuums gone after several pumps, when the pedal goes hard to press and the brakes don't work so well if the vehicles still moving! (not advisable to try this while moving!)

You will only hear it with the engine off, Hell Driver is right.
