I was trying to remove my rear oil shock to replace them with gas however i cannot remove the bottom nut due to the lower half of the shock rotating with it and i can't fit any tool around the shock without it slipping.any ideas how to get it off?

Hold on to it and lock a spanner in and turn by hand, thats how i managed mine,
Its more fun trying to put it back together,

heyhey
when i didn mine i just used my hands and it was easy enough to come on/off
failing that use a belt wrench or chain wrench thingy, the one used to take off oil filters etc

Use a reaaaally small spanner on the inside of the car where it comes through the turret, something silly like 4mm

As the old shock is scrap you can use pipe grips to hold it. If that does not work take the grinder to it and lop it off.

this can be a big bitch if you want to re-use the shocks, otherwise > dai's solution.
on the 360GLT HOR from Jeroen he wanted to swap the rear red koni's to his new car, had to break all 4 m10 bolts holding the rear axle to free the shock mounting plate, because the nuts on the shock itself wouldn't loosen themself under the car, even with some heavy tools

and how does that help?
the top of the shock wich is connected to the cylinder wil rotate freely in the cylinder housing wich is mounted underneath

Other thing to do is the basic soaking with plug gas for a few days. If you have a impact gun they will often get it shifted but dont use one if you wnat to reuse the shock

There off now and the underside thread was so badly rusted and stiff i just put force on spanner and the thread snapped off and the shock just came off after top was undone.
