Dashboard lights out on 360GLT

Post by bambi » 24 Mar 2006 04:18 am

The lights on my dashboard behind my speedo etc don't seem to be working. Are there bulbs behind there that should be changed or is it something else?

Is there a checklist of things to check.

The lights behind the warning indicators – battery, brake etc..

Help much appreciated as driving at night is a problem...

Nahh, not a stupid question as there is a switch thing at the right hand side of the dash at the base but that light doesn't work either and have tried that switched on with and without lights ignition etc.

Previous owner said they just went out one day...

Any idea which fuse (is it in the main fuse box?)...

Yeah not enough 360's in Aust.

main fuse box under the bonnet.

IIRC its a fairly high amp fuse but cant remember which one exactly!!!

I think the prob i had with mine was that the a/c compressor had a short and kept killing the dash lights - i'm fairly sure tehy share teh same fuse!! :?:

Behind your speedometer there are two seams/connectionpins (i dont know real word for it) which might be loose.
To check that first you have to remove interior"shield" under dashboard.
Then follow wires which goes to speedo and swing those seams. Problem is solved if it does work. Ive done that to mine and it always works :)

pull the lower dash cover off, held on with 4 clips and wiggle the left hand multiplug connector as you look forwards at the dash.

Do it with the lights on and should fix it nicely. If it keeps doing it repeatedly then you'll have to take the dash out and clean the connectors both on the dash and also on the multiplugs.

Edited for spelling.

Thanks for all your help.

Took the dimmer switch out today and found it wasn't connected, connected it and whammo!! Lights again.

So much for the previous owner saying they had "just gone out"....

No more torch light drivin at night.

Yeah from experience I know driving without dash lights is a bit difficult. judjing revs+gear to speed and sometimes getting a glimps with streetlights. What's worse is when lights are reversed, eg indicator lights on solid, window heater light on when it's off, and worst of all full beam light on when dipped

I had this problem last winter, often when it was damp. The connectors were suggested as a cause and I had a fiddle, but didn't seem to fix it, but it just fixed itself...

Thread Hijack:

I'm sure someone on here has swapped all the bulbs in their dash for LEDs, a brick driver I think... Who was it and how did you do it? Direct replacement? Pleased with the result?

Cheers
