Undersealed and Rust Treated

Post by stevenc75 » 22 Oct 2006 07:27 pm

I undersealed the entire floorpan and wheel arches of the 340 today. I also treated it to Waxoyl sprayed into the sills and box sections as outlined by the info Mac posted here:

That should be it all ready for the winter now. :D

There's no real reason for this thread other than me being pleased with myself for getting up off my arse.

Has anyone else sorted their car for the winter yet?

I'm overdue to waxoil Vickys car. I would do it now but it is due to go in for paint in the next couple of weeks so it will have to wait.

Is anyone else waxoiling there 3?

When did you last do it?

Need to get cracking on mine actually, I had meant to this weekend but ended up fitting a new radiator instead. Next weekend is the plan, I bet it'll rain...

Although one sill is a rusty POS anyway

Nice work for getting onto the case so soon :D

Good work, someone going for the prevention technique! I've given the GLT a bit of a treatment, and the vario has the can sat in it, ready to go, but I was gonna jack it up and fill the thing with waxoyl in all the right places when I find a few minutes, and before they get throwing salt all over the roads at the first sniff of a frost!

We had the 340 waxoiled inside the cavities at the end of the summer. Do any of you guys put anything on the outside of the car, such as bits on the bottom?

Yes, I put the car up on axle stands and wire brushed the underneath then applied a coat of Waxoyl using a paintbrush. The entire floorpan and wheel arches got this treatment. That combined with Waxoyl in the cavities should pretty much ensure no rusting over the winter.

On the old amazons we wax oil the crome work over winter to protect it. Easy to clean off when they stop salting.
