Hehe indeed... I have the replacements in my shed... waiting for the powered windows and mirors to go in. Better do it all at once...

And indeed I do have leather with rear headrests. New Leather that is.
I bought an interior from a scrappy. It looks like it has never been used...
The scrapper was going to install them on his speedboat, but he could not resist earning a little cash...

Mine sounds the bollocks with a pair of Pioneer 6x9s on a re-enforced rear shelf (re-enforced more for the sound, than the shelf strength, stronger base = tighter bass) a pair of 4" kennys in the front, and a pair of sony tweeters on the dash, reflecting off the windscreen. these are all running off my HU amp, and despite what foggy has said, I don't "need" an external amp, blaupunkt is the shiznit, and when i do get an amp/sub I'll be getting a blaupunkt set.

Total Speaker cost £35
Head unit cost - £230 (2001) about a ton now tho
I will be getting an amp and sub at some point...

I said want, not need :-P I agree that the blaupunkt ones do seem unusually good (I guess that's part of where the extra money goes!), but with the majority, you'd be shocked at the A/B comparison.

Rigid mounts for speakers are indeed critical - my fronts are in need of some surgery there.

cheers

Davey boy.

For once, listen to the Fogmeister ;) Although I have no more volume than I did before, the base through the volume range is muchos enhanced. Although running 6x9's I'm not sure you would notice it.. so scratch that entire post.

Blaupunkt stuff is certainly impressive - I wouldn't buy any other brand of HU after having one.. maybe if it was a little more subtle (not ricerish silver) it'd be nicer...

However, when I fitted my maystar amp (when it was in the 405) the sound quality was FAR better than a mere headunit amp. Time to get round to sticking it into the 360 and pimping with some snoop :P

What the hell is the Maystar thingy?? Though if you're hooking a 12 to it.. Weird freaks who like too much bass. Probably should have put it in the pug, would have shaken it to bits :P

I was going to badge my car 360 GT until I decided it was far too pretentious...

Now Chris...did my system have too much bass when we played something that wasn't hiphop?

The 'Maystar thing' is my old power amp. For the money, it was a seriously kick-ass piece of kit (true 4x50w for a start...with a peak current draw of 45A!), but I bought the JL cos I'm a poser and was sick of having "Maystar? WTF....Kenwood mayte! In ma Nova...safe...". Plus there's something 'large balls' about having your power ratings measured at 12v, not 14.4...a bit like the guy who chooses a Porsche over a Ferrari...

wont need to worry bout uprating the engine power Foggy - just stick the subs in the boot and pump up da base - you should be able to bounce down the road quite quickly!! :P

This man has a point...

I ought to try a run at the pod with and without 135dB of 'The Quad' and see what happens...

(Yes, only 135dB....a guess with the 18s and not enough power for them! They do ~133 in free space with 2.5kW of amp power, while in a car interior, but with only 150w - albeit 150 proper watts!)

cheers

I ought to point out...2.5kW is for my (small) PA rig, not the car...and just for bass :) It's ~4kW in total...the high sub-bass power figure gives away that it's configured for the demands of dance music playback!

cheers
