I'll have a look when I get home. Might even have an instruction book for one. 4W RMS per channel? If you wanted more Watts then Volvo would flog an amp.

Hi Matt,
I have a record on my computer that I do have a CR3001 instruction manual. Question is: Where did I put it? It's around somewhere, but at least I know I have it! Will report back with other info later.

I have one of the amps somewhere, pulled from a 360 with (before I knew what it was) the whizzy digital stereo ma Bob that MP and Trabi love!

I've got a few amps too in the man-cave. Must start sorting these things out good and proper.

got the stereo now
Wasn't a straight fit even though it came from a 360, had to remove two strips of stainless steel which ran along the top of the unit and unscrew the two square locating blocks off the sides as they made it slide in too low for the supports. Fits fine just on the two side clips though.
Radio seems to work fine both LW and MW although i must say the station selection is pretty limited compared to what you can find on FM lol
The tape player however doesn't.
It slides in and drops down as it should but the front flap doesn't quite close, wedged on the tape. The play LED lights and a mechanical clicking can be heard (tape head moving?) No motor sounds at all, Rewind and fast forward cut the sound as if the head's moved off the tape but nothing else happens.

Also the lighting seems a bit hit and miss :/ oh and the volume control makes a racket as you turn it but guessing it's down to dirty contacts
Gotta say i don't know much about tape decks but i'm guessing the motor? a snapped drive belt would still mean the motor spins. Unless its the tape loading machinery not quite going far enough, it does look a bit crusty inside. Suppose a test could be to use one of those tapes with a jack plug which would work even if the motor doesn't providing the tape head is in contact.
Spent 2 hours recording over some tapes i found in the house as you cannot buy them in shops
Would really like to give it a shot repairing the thing, i like the look of it and am not too fussed with using tapes etc, and i'm planning in wiring an aux in jack socket. Motor from the later DIN type 300 radio's swap over? Really I'd like to have an idea of what i'm doing before opining it up
Any help appreciated
cheers, Matt

10 times out of 10 (well nearly!), it'll be the belt that is shot. Motors are normally fine.
Flap isn't meant to close shut with a tape in!
I'll have another look for the book when I get in.

Hi, cheers for the replys
The thing that made me think it wan't the belt was the fact i can't hear a motor spinning at all.
I did try moving the gear that drives the tape spool nearest the opening and it freely turns with no resistance at all as if it's got no belt. So would a snapped belt stop the motor working?
I take it the belt will definately be different to the later DIN stereo the car came with and i'll have to source one somewhere or find a really good elastic band?
Everything else on the thing seems to work fine bar the noisy volume pot. Will look at that when i wire in the aux input
Oh and funnily enough i found a brand new (well unopened anyway) sony tape head cleaner in a charity shop for 10p yesterday while on the hunt for tapes to record to but thanks for the offer

It knows I'm looking for it, so it's gone into hiding.
As soon as it turns up, I'll scan it and file it. Belt would be fairly simple to measure up. It's probably a Mitsubishi Car Audio chassis in disguise. From memory, with the auto reverse decks, the belt is quite a long 'un.
Where/who did you get it from?

ebay, advertised as a 360 gle radio. Was advertised as untested but thought it was worth a chance.
If i can get it back out the dash i might have a look inside after i get the belt out the other set to see if they're anywhere near.
