• Arggghhh, My Speedo Cable Broke!

Hey Guys,

Does anyone happen to know where i may be able to find a speedo cable for my 360? Ive tried Brayden Motors and Lea Vally breakers, and couple of places online with no luck. I'm 26 and only been driving for a year. My 360 is my first car and i really like it, especially as it is Black! I really dont want to have to change it so soon, as im guessing no speedo means no MOT, grr.

Passing an MOT is one thing - I'd be scared senseless trying to pass a speed camera without a speedo cable. Or when a police car happens to be hind you.

Did you guys drive around for long like this?

Good to know that it wont fail MOT, cheers. As far as driving it around i use the rev counter, and or the speed of traffic around me to judge, but yes, tis a little hairy sometimes!! thinking of investing in gps but thats cheating isnt it?

Still, if anyone knows where i could get a speedo cable from, i still need one!

Yeah, just use your rev counter and sense of speed really... failing that GPS!

Not too sure on a source of cables, Volvo don't sell them any more as far as I'm aware

better start doing the maths

in 5th, 70mph is 2.7k revs in my 360. presumably we have the same 'box and final drive...

Afraid the GLT diff is shorter, in 5th in a GLT revs are pretty much 3k RPM exactly.

they do come up on ebay quite often. A seller called Maxcar has a lot of 300 stuff... good luck finding one.

If I see one myself I'll drop you a line here

Legally, if you have a speedo it has to work (unless you have some other acceptable speedometer - and as chris said GPS is accepted as ok)

hi... just did a quick worldwide search on ebay...none at the moment

wouldnt they be the same as the 340 though? instrument binnacles are the same. are front struts the same between 340 and 360s.

I think discs are bigger, springs and dampers too but speedo connector?

I had to replace the speedo cable on my 360 GLT, and iirc it came from an old model 340, can't remember what mark, but it was befinately not a newer one.

340, 360, same difference - they changed the road wheel end of the cable in about 1987 (I think).
