engine analyser program

Post by Lonewolf » 06 Feb 2005 06:48 am

i was browsing the net and found a program called engine analyser pro3.3, my jaw dropped at the price of it $600 american, but it had a 10 day demo of the full version so i downloaded it to see what it was like(and the computer its on is about to get formatted so i'll get 20 days from it :) ). It appears very detailed, and while i'm not sure that the info i put in is the same as the b200e engine the theoriatical power is at 116hp @5500 and 127lbs@4000, i was wondering if anyone would like to help me fill in the blanks as i got most of the info from the haynes manual as all the data i dont know is stuff i've or the data from a porsche 951 (2.5L Turbo):

Conrod length.
Bearing size.
Valve diameters, for both intake and exhaust
Port lengths/diameters for intake/exhaust (i might be able to measure this myself)

Camshaft Data
Intake Opens 13BTDC
Intake Closes ATDC (not sure)
Exhasut Opens BBDC (not sure)
Exhaust Closes ATDC (not sure)
Intake Lift (not sure)
Exhaust Lift (not sure)

It also asks for the cylinder head chamber design, CFM of the throttle body and exhaust system beyond the manifold, some anti reversion and flow co-efficients, but i should be able to match them up to get the power back to 116 if the program is accurate. Does anyone know any of the figures?

From by spec books.

There's specs for the cams. 360 has had A, L and Y cams.

then mine is an A profile as the other 2 weren't made for b200E, i punched the camshaft in and the other bits took the power down under 100, i got it back to 102hp@5500 117lbs@4000. I've been under the impression the B19 and B200 all have 116 hp but one of the local engine builder books reckons its only 102, so i thought i'd better ask just in case i'm trying to squeeze 14 hp from thin air.

I am still not sure of the following figures and what i've got them at
-Camshaft Dwell Over Nose 0 (degrees)
-Port Diameter Exhaust 1.3 (inches)
-Port Lengths Intake 4 Exhaust 4 (inches)
-Valve lash 0.01 for both intake/exhaust (inches)
-Throttle Body Flow 400 (CFM)
-Exhaust Flow 300 (CFM)
-Exhaust Manifold diameter/length 1.6/20 (inches)
-Various Flow Coefficients

If you think the data there is fairly close then i'm pretty much done and will compile the file if anyone wants to see what effect changes have on the car performance. The person that recommended it did say the initial power figures may not be spot on, but the relative changes in power have been from actual dyno tests. It also lets you know if bad things may result from certain actions, i put the CR up to 12 (with low grade fuel)and let me know that detonation is very likely, the only thing i've seen that looks wrong is that with the bore/stroke the way it is, apparantly revving above 5000rpm will likely cause stress conrods and possibly an engine self-destruct, when the redline is at 5500.

that might explain why the engine book on the 360 says to measure the width of the con rods and if they're the older narrow type then to change them for the newer type which are a couple of mm wider.

It's well documented that even with the 9mm rods the B200 is safe revving to 6500+.....not that I think its worth it.

I've been playing with a similar toy - Dyno2003. Good fun for benchracing :) It got the power of my B200K near enough spot-on.

102 sounds like a B200K. Some later Es were down to 113, but they're all in the 110-120 range.

cheers
