Hi
I noticed that i have a small leak from one hose to the petroltank. It is one of the two that goes out of the top back of the tank. It is the little rubberhose that goes from the tank to a metalpipe. I seen taht it leak when I have filled it very full. So my question is what this pipe is good for?
Is it important. It's the lines that comes up in the trunk, to metal pipes one slightly larger than the other. It's the biggest that I wonder what is the use for.
Fuellines from petroltank?
only need to post once!
that tube is a breather hose - it lets air into the fuel tank as the tank empties - otherwise there would be a vacume
if it leaks then it may be the top of this tube has fallen down - it needs to go above the top of the other pipe.. otherwise there is a hole in it - 2 solutions - replace the tube, or just dont fill your tank as full

These pipes go to and from an expansion tank that is behind the right hand side panel in the boot.
They are notoriously dodgy on the 300 series and should be replaced with some new ones. No need to go to Volvo though, almost any motor factors will have fuel pipe and clips.
Be careful when taking the old ones out as the fittings can be a bit fragile.
May as well do the whole system while your at it - one less thing t worry about.

No - a leak here will not starve the engine of fuel as this pipework does not feed the engine. If this is perished though, would you trust the more vital pipework.
A leak will fail the MOT (in the UK in any case - don`t know about your local equivalent) if found and it is wasteful and enviromentally harmful however, not to mention the risk of fire - probably only really likely if your car is garaged and fumes get to build up.
