so its just a push bike cable, brake/gear as long as it has the metal blob on one end?

No, gear cable is thinner and brake cable is all but obsolete now everyone has hydraulic discs. Whatever you use for the throttle you'll probably need to adapt it to fit the accelerator. I'd adapt a standard throttle cable, but can't remember what sort of fitting is on the manifold end. There are loads of universal throttle cables on ebay though.

Gear/brake cable is about 3 quid from a shop, or 2 quid if you only want the inner!
And Each will have a different bit on the end so check which you want first - brake cables have a big bit and gear cables have a tiny bit
