1.4 5 speed MPG?

Post by mattywatsit » 13 Jul 2011 11:56 am

Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering what the mpg is like on the 1.4 5 speed?

Just my Dad is looking for something cheap to get to and from work (2.7 v6 24valves drink fuel ;p) and i have just spotted a 340 1.4 5 speed that could fit the bill - depending on fuel economy.

Cheers.
Matt.

MIXED driving, local and motorbahn I get 35 ish mpg. Standard B14, 5 speed, well maintained and driven moderatley hard.
Round the doors only will be lower. Runs are higher. But I think 35 is an attainable average dude.

Cheers for that VND - would be about 8/10 miles to work, mostly A19 on a daily basis so 35mpg should be possible.

I used to get 45MPG average mostly on the motorway in a 1985 340 GL 3dr, it did run rather well and may be exceptional. Well sealing valve seats make a big difference.
1980 345 DL_______1987 360 GLE (project car restored to GLT spec and B230FT'd)
1984 360 GLT______1987 360 GLT
1983 360 GLS______1989 360 GLE
1985 340 GL_______1986 340 1.4
1985 360 GLS______1995 940 SE 2.3 Turbo Estate (daily)
1987 340 GL 1.7

45mpg seems ideal - as you say though the car would have to be running spot on; Thanks for the advice though! :D
